How To Recreate Blackpink’s Jennie’s Innocent And Doe-Eyed Makeup Looks
Tip #1: Dewy skin
custom

To mimic Jennie’s youthful, dewy complexion, start by nourishing your skin with a sheet mask. Then apply a dewy, hydrating primer before going in your foundation of choice.

Of course, you can opt for a foundation with a dewy finish, but one with a satin, natural finish will wear better in Singapore’s hot, humid weather.

Finally, set it with just the tiniest bit of powder over the T-zone and areas that get oily.

Tip #2: Highlighted cheekbones
custom

If your skin is on the oilier side but you still want that dewy finish,  try using a highlighter instead. Apply them on high points of your face – top of cheekbones, cupid’s bow, nose bridge, forehead and chin.

Tip #3: Apply blush across a wide area
custom

Natural makeup eschews contouring and highlighting. Instead, a broad placement of colour across the face is used to create a soft effect.

When you are applying blush, start from below the centre of the eyes and brush horizontally across your cheeks. For eyeshadow, use a similar shade (or the same blush) to create an easy monochromatic look.

Tip #4: Soft eyebrows
custom

While many makeup looks put the eyebrows on heavy emphasis, the natural makeup camp is the opposite. The rule here is to create a soft, barely-there eyebrow look without obvious arches.

Tip #5: Focus eyeshadow on eyelids and upper lash line
custom

Unless she’s going for a full-glam look for a night out or a performance, Jennie rarely applies eyeshadow on her lower lash line.

Why? By focusing the application of eyeshadow on the eyelids and upper lash line, it opens up the eyes visually. But if she applied it on the lower lash line, the eyes appear smaller.

Tip #6: Lengthen your lashes
custom

When choosing a mascara, opt for one that has lash lengthening properties. Run through your lashes with a comb to prevent any clumping. Alternatively, you can also fake fuller, longer lashes with falsies.

Tip #7: Wing it out
custom

A simple flick of the eyeliner can really open up the eyes and make them appear bigger and more awake. To master the cat-eye winged liner, use small dashes to line the lash line before drawing the flick.

Anything with a straight edge – a credit card, business card, and the line – can help you achieve a straight line. We also recommend practising the winged liner with powder eyeshadows first before moving on to liquid and gel eyeliners.

Tip #8: Inner corner highlight
custom

Our eyes are naturally attracted to bright things. One way to draw attention to your peepers is to apply a little highlight or shimmery eyeshadow on the inner corner of the eyes.

A little goes a long way. Use either your pinky or a small flat brush to apply the highlighter. Crystal embellishments on the inner corners work just as well!

Tip #9: Choose a peach or light coral lip colour
custom

To recreate the innocent style of makeup that Jennie wears, you have to first choose the right shades. Cool tone eyeshadows and lip colours that have blue or purple hues are all out.

A peachy or light coral is the colour of choice as it can make you look wide-eyed, fresh and natural.

Tip #10: Scarlet lips
custom

While Jennie mostly sports nude lips, she isn’t afraid to rock a statement-making red lip. Always hydrate your lips with a nourishing balm before going in with a red lip liner to define your pout. Next, apply your red lipstick of choice, using a lip brush if you require more precision.

Tip #11: Glass lips
custom

Finally, juicy and full-looking lips are necessary to complete a natural makeup look. Because of the grounded nature of the natural look, you don’t need to pay attention to highlighting the contours of the lips when applying lipstick.

On the contrary, you want to create smooth lips absent of lines. We recommend using a moisturising lipstick (and not a lip gloss) to achieve the finish.

Tip #12: Body glow
custom

Makeup doesn’t end at the neck, especially if you’re going for a full glam look that shows off your collarbones, shoulders and legs.

To even out the complexion, mix a couple of pumps of foundation with body lotion and use a large brush to apply over exposed skin. Top it off with liquid or powder highlighter to accent high points such as your décolletage and shoulders.

Bonus tip: Eye-enhancing contacts
custom

Contact lenses these days are made with technology that make your irises (and eyes) appear bigger and brighter.

You can experiment with various coloured contact lenses to find out how you’ll look with different eye colours – treat them as accessories to complement your makeup looks.

Bonus tip: Voluminous tresses
custom

ICYDK you can use translucent loose setting powder in place of dry shampoo to mop up excess oil around the roots of your hair. To fill in your hairline, use a powder eyeshadow that matches your roots, especially before tying your hair into a snatched high ponytail.
