We hardly think twice when it comes to washing and shampooing our hair but did you know, there’s an actual method to cleansing your hair?
Read on to find out some of the little mistakes we make when shampooing our hair on a daily basis.
Did you know that there are two parts to thoroughly washing your hair?
The first part consists of scrubbing your scalp of dead skin, impurities and oil for about two to three minutes. This is especially important if you use products like dry shampoo, hair spray and mousse because product build-up on your scalp can cause dandruff and oily scalp to happen.
After rinsing, squeeze a pea-sized amount of shampoo and proceed to cleanse your hair with it. Take this time to really massage your hair strands.

Each time you don’t wash all the shampoo out of your hair thoroughly, it sticks to your scalp and forms product build-up.
Shampoo build-up can often dry your scalp and force it to produce more oil to make up for the dryness.
So, the next time you wash your hair, be sure to spend a good minute and a half rinsing all that shampoo out. You’ll feel fresher and your hair won’t look as limp either.
Contrary to what you see on your TV screens, loads of shampoo suds on your head doesn’t equate to cleaner hair.
Applying too much shampoo can lead to product build-up while applying too little doesn’t clean your hair as effectively. So, what’s the magical amount?
If you’ve got short hair, a pea size amount is perfect. For medium hair, go for a twenty-cent coin size. For longer hair, a dollar size is the optimum amount.

Just like our skin, hair follicles open up in hot showers. To lock in the all hard work you’ve put in on your hair, rinse your hair with cold water to seal in all the effects of your shampoo and conditioner.
Your hair will also look shinier and healthier.
We know it sounds kind of strange but whenever you don’t wet your hair and moisten it enough, all that shampoo and conditioning benefit won’t be absorbed.
