The pandemic may have caused trouble in many aspects of our lives, but the one thing it has proven to help with is the making of little humans. Case in point: celebrity babies.
From Hollywood celebs like Kylie Jenner to Jennifer Lawrence, to local stars like Kimberly Chia and Cheryl Wee, we really could go on and on about pregnancy and birth announcements popping up left and right. So while the previous year may have had a few setbacks, that didn’t stop any of our favourite celebrities from having more babies.
Whether you love seeing celebrity baby bumps or speculating the next obscure baby names they might choose for their little one, we’ve rounded up a list of celebrities who are (or were) expecting in 2021.
Scarlett Johansson and husband Colin Jost have welcomed baby Cosmo to the world after Colin confirmed the pregnancy during a stand-up. Just recently on 19th November 2021, the couple made their first appearance on the red carpet since having their child, and if their glowing expressions are anything to go by, we can only assume that parenthood has been a joy for them thus far.
But as you can see, they value privacy for their baby, and we are all in full support of that.
Local actress Kimberly Chia took to Instagram Live to announce that she’s married and pregnant. The 26-year-old star first met her husband about eight to nine years ago, where they started out as good friends before they romantically clicked one day. The couple then got married soon after and had a private and intimate wedding affair with their family and loved ones. But that’s not all, during the IG Live, Kimberly also mentioned that she’s pregnant!
“I’m very excited. I’m not a very pantang (superstitious) person, so I wanted to share the news with you guys as soon as I found out,” she said, suggesting she’s still in her first trimester.
Whether you’re a football fan or not, you’re probably familiar with Cristiano Ronaldo. The football star took to Instagram to share the good news with fans around the world when he posted a selfie of him and his girlfriend holding up a picture of their recent scans, showing two foetuses.
In his caption, he wrote, “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins👶🏻👶🏻. Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you ❤️🏠 #blessed”
The happy couple is already parents to three-year-old Alana Martina, while Cristiano is also father to Cristiano Jr., 11, and twins Mateo and Eva, four.
Celebrations for Mother’s Day were in full swing for many, but Cheryl Wee had other surprises waiting in store for us. If you haven’t heard from the grapevine or you haven’t caught up with her IG posts, then you’ll be glad to know that the mother of two (and now three) recently delivered her third child.
What was originally a date night at omakase sushi restaurant Sushi Masaaki on October 22 was made all the more memorable with the birth of her daughter following right after. In her husband’s Instagram post, he shared, “We postponed this meal at Masaaki since May; before we went for dinner @weecheryl started to have contractions and I thought we’d had to cancel this dinner again. But it seemed like our baby 3 really wanted to have this meal before meeting us today! Indeed a memorable meal!!”
In case you missed the news, Kylie Jenner has confirmed that she’s pregnant with her second child with Travis Scott. After months of speculation, the 24-year-old beauty mogul gave her fans a glimpse of her baby bump in a sweet and touching video on her Instagram. If you’ve already watched it, then you’d know that the minute-and-a-half long video starts with a shot of Kylie Jenner’s positive pregnancy test followed by the reaction of her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, and footage of Kris Jenner hearing about the pregnancy for the first time.
A source tells PEOPLE that Kylie — who famously kept her first pregnancy with daughter Stormi, a secret — always planned to share the journey with fans.
“Kylie is showing and was ready to share. She is beyond excited. She never planned to keep her pregnancy secret like she did with Stormi,” the source says. “She just wanted to wait until it felt right.”
Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney are having their first child together! The two first met in June 2018, and tied the knot in October 2019. According to PEOPLE, Jennifer’s pregnancy was confirmed by the actress’ rep, however, the couple is still unsure of the sex of the child and its due date. Nevertheless, we’re excited for the soon-to-be family of three!
‘Wonder Woman’ star, Gal Gadot has announced that she has welcomed her third child, with her husband, Jaron Varsano. The 35-year-old Israeli actress took to Instagram to announce her delivery with a caption that read, “My sweet family 🖐🏼I couldn’t be more grateful and happy (and tired 🤪) we are all so excited to welcome Daniella into our family. I’m sending all of you love and health. GG ♥️🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼🖐🏼”, along with a selfie with her daughters — Alma, 9, and Maya, 3, her new baby girl, Daniella — and her beloved husband.
Cardi B has welcomed her second child, a baby boy, with her husband Offset. She first shared the news during the June BET Awards performance with Offset and Migos when she stepped on stage wearing a black, glittery bodysuit that exposed her growing belly.
“9/4/21,” she captioned a photo posted recently on her Instagram with a blue heart emoji, showing the couple sitting on a hospital bed and gazing at their newborn.
Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin had been trying to start a family for ages, and this year she had a secret pregnancy and only announced it one month before her birth! The actress had turned down a few jobs to be able to start her family. A few weeks before the birth, she had not known the gender of her baby and asked everyone not to speculate.
However, her rep said that she had given birth to a healthy Libra girl on 18 October, 2021. We are glad to see that her wishes to have a family have finally come true.
The 29-year-old model/actress and husband Sebastian Bear-McClard welcomed their first baby, Sylvester Apollo Bear, back in March this year. However, when she revealed her pregnancy news in an essay for Vogue back in October 2020, she explained why she didn’t want to reveal her baby’s sex.
In the essay, she mentioned, “When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after ‘Congratulations’ is almost always ‘Do you know what you want?’ We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then.”
After tying the knot in 2020, Jennifer Shum announced (on Mother’s Day) that she’s five months pregnant on her Instagram post.
In April 2021, the 32-year-old announced that she would be leaving her long-running drama series Come Home Love: Lo and Behold for six months, sparking talk that she is expecting. And in September, baby Preston came into the world.
In her introductory post of her baby, she shares that she and her husband gave Preston her name because “it sounds like Present, and be reminded to always ‘Live in the Present’ 😉and to find gratefulness in life 🎁🌈”.
Former MTV VJ Denise Keller has very recently announced that she is 18 weeks pregnant. The now yoga instructor posted a picture of herself in a beautiful floral dress while showing off her baby bump.

Thankfully for us, 2021 meant the arrival of the wildlife conservationist’s baby girl, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Since her birth, Grace has appeared in multiple posts and we can’t wait to see more of her!
In March 2021, Emma Stone gave birth to her first child after January media reports revealed that she was pregnant. This is a big step for the actress who, in 2018, revealed that as a teenager, she never wanted to get married or have kids.

But this time, Mandy Moore is back with another surprise and it’s none other than her baby boy.
