Posting throwback shots have become a popular trend on many social media platforms – and celebrities are joining in on the bandwagon.
From cute baby photos to aww-inducing family photos, stars like Stefanie Sun and Apple Hong are digging through the archives to find their favourite childhood photos to share on social media. Scroll through the gallery and see if you can guess the star in the pictures ahead.
The local songbird may have sold more than 30 million records with her amazing vocals and thought provoking lyrics, but Stefanie started out as an adorable kid with a toothy grin, glasses and pigtails, just like many of us.
She posted this throwback snap of her dressed up in a traditional costume with the caption, “always by my side, just like my shadow and name (I’m the one dressed in blue).”
The 39-year-old actress and Jia FM88.3 deejay who recently tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend shared what might be her best throwback, taking a couple of cracks at herself while she was at it.
The doe-eyed celeb wrote, “Dug out this old picture from my home in KL. I wasn’t so alert to the camera when I was young or maybe I am a natural born “dreamer” and should I cut my bangs?”
The South Korean singer who was formerly from the girl group Kara reminisced on her childhood days with this childhood photo. That megawatt smile would brighten the gloomiest of days.
The “City Hunter” actress captioned the picture, “what could have been so good?”
Fashion’s “it-girl” shared this endearing snap of her as a kid during Christmastime. Irene poked fun at herself and captioned the snap, “Look at that gap!”
This cute pic shows that her killer sense of style hasn’t changed at all – can we get that red dress in our size, please?
The former 2NE1 member is almost unrecognisable in this throwback photo. The 26-year-old singer shared this aww-worthy snap of her and her little sister Harin with the caption, “Happy Harin Day.”
CL has always been a pillar of support for her 22-year-old sister who is pursuing a modelling career. The latter recently took to the gram to thank her sister for walking her through a very dark period in her life
The former f(x) member was only seven when she started appearing in television commercials in 2002. She made her small screen debut in a Lotte commercial where she starred alongside South Korean actress Han Ga-in.
In 2006, at the tender age of ten, Krystal became part of the talent agency S.M. Entertainment that enrolled her in dance classes. How cute is Krystal in this headshot?
Even when he was just a wide-eyed baby, you could tell that he would grow up to be a charmer. The “wedding dress” singer treated his fans to this endearing throwback. Like Krystal, Taeyang started training under entertainment label YG entertainment when he was just a tween. In 2006, Taeyang made his debut as a member of the South Korean boyband Big Bang.
Dubbed the Korean “Prince of R&B”, Taeyang’s vocal skills have been praised by music critics and he is regarded as one of the best vocalists in South Korea. We wonder if we’ll be seeing this picture in the soon-to-wed singer’s wedding montage when he walks down the aisle with Min Hyo Rin on Feb 3, 2017.
The jovial local comedian has always been full of personality, in case you’re having a little trouble picking out Jeremy, he’s the one on the right.
The funny man posted this throwback shot in honour of children’s day. He wrote, “I didn’t use any filters on this picture. This is the colour of my generation. Happy children’s day.”
Even as a little boy, it was completely obvious that he was destined to be a star. Just look at him posing in his singlet and denim jeans. From the young age of twelve, G-dragon trained for six years under South Korean entertainment label YG before debuting in 2006 as a member of the highly successful hip hop boyband Big Bang.
We can thank fellow Big Bang member Taeyang for this picture of G-dragon, which he captioned, “Happy birthday my one and only friend. Love you the most!”
Yet another member from the Big Bang clan, T.O.P has come a long way from being a cherub-faced boy to a charismatic rapper. The 30-year-old T.O.P was initially rejected by record label YG which deemed him for being too “chubby” to be an idol.
After the initial rejection, he went home and trained hard, dropping 20 kilograms in 40 days. His perseverance paid off because he landed the contract of his dreams. The rest is history.
Things haven’t changed a single bit. Taiwanese aboriginal songstress A-Lin still looks as beautiful and bright-eyed as she did when she was a little girl.
Along with this throwback photo, she wrote this uplifting and positive caption about the pursuit of happiness, “Happiness isn’t that hard to achieve. All you have to do is smile.”
The South Korean girl group Blackpink member proves that she can rock any outfit in this throwback shot of her dressed in her hanbok (traditional Korean costume).
This photo of Jisoo was posted on the Blackpink’s official Instagram in honour of the singer’s birthday. After undergoing a five year long training under entertainment label YG Entertainment, Jisoo debuted and found fame as a member of Blackpink.
