The Tiger Car was conceptualised by business tycoon and Tiger Balm founder Aw Boon Haw as an advertising tool for his products. In the 1930s, these cars prowled the streets of Singapore, turning heads wherever they went.
While none of the originals remain, you can sign up for the Tiger Car workshop, where you’ll be taken through the restoration of an authentic 1925 Buick which was remodelled to resemble the Tiger Cars of old. Take a peek into its inner gears, and get the chance to sound the horn and turn the keys to hear the engine go! For the ultimate blast to the past, get dress up in your best roaring 20s outfit and pose next to this authentic 1925 Buick for a fab photo op.
What’s new: In this edition of the Tiger Car Workshop, you’ll also get the chance to see Singapore’s first electric race car – the R22e, up close and personal. The R22e was built by Engineering students from the National University of Singapore’s Formula SAE team. At 208.2kg, the R22e is lighter than Singapore’s earliest cars, but it can go from zero to 100km per hr in just 3.9s, and attain a top speed of 125.4km per hour. See it in person next to the Tiger Car on the weekend of Oct 29, 2022 and witness the evolution of car engineering.
When: Oct 29 to Oct 30 (Sat to Sun), 3pm and 5pm
Tickets: $5 (adult) and $2 (child)
