Raise your hands if Wi Ha-joon first caught your eye in Squid Game. While the handsome and chiselled South Korean actor is most known for his role as Hwang Jun-do in the blockbuster Netflix series, Wi Ha-joon’s body of work extends beyond that. Here, we’ve rounded up a few of his notable works, including one starring Kim Go-eun that is set to be released in a month’s time.

Something In The Rain (2018)

Something In The Rain stars Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in, who plays the older cafe supervisor and younger video game animator respectively, as they fall in love and navigate the various social taboos in South Korean society. Wi Ha-joon plays the brother of Son’s character and the best friend of Jung’s character.

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)

Horror fans shouldn’t miss out on this film. Based on a real-life former psychiatric hospital of the same name, Wi Ha-joon plays Ha-joon, the owner of a YouTube channel named Horror Times. The plot thickens as Ha-joon and his crew enter the abandoned haunted asylum while live-streaming the process to gain views and publicity. The movie was a box office hit and became the second highest-grossing and the third most-watched Korean horror film.

With Coffee (2018)

As the title suggests, With Coffee is a web drama surrounding the popular beverage. Wi Ha-joon stars opposite Jung Da-eun as the two develop a romantic relationship over coffee. You can watch the series on YouTube, albeit without English subtitles.

Romance Is A Bonus Book (2019)

Wi Ha-joon plays the second male lead Ji Seo-joon, a freelance book designer that becomes caught between the eventual romance of the two first leads Lee Na-young and Lee Jong-suk. The romantic comedy also marks Lee Na-young’s return to the small screen after nine years and Lee Jong-suk’s final project before his military service.

18 Again (2020)

With his muscled, athletic built, Wi Ha-joon plays Ye Ji-hoon, a famous baseball athlete and pitcher for Seum Wolves in this Korean remake of 17 Again. The heartwarming series stars Yoon Sang-hyun and Lee Do-hyun as the main characters that are in the present and past and Kim Ha-neul as Yoon’s wife.

Shark: The Beginning (2021)

Fans of action films might enjoy Shark: The Beginning. Adapted from the namesake webtoon, Wi Ha-joon (Jung Do-hyun) plays a former MMA champion who trains Kim Min-seok (Cha Woo-sol) in martial arts in prison to help him stand up against his high school bully and perpetrator Jung Won-chang (Bae Seok-chan) who is seeking revenge.

Midnight (2021)

Besides Squid Game, Midnight is another thriller film starring Wi Ha-joon. He plays serial killer Do-sik who ends up in a hide-and-seek situation with a deaf woman played by Jin Ki-joo after she witnesses Wi Ha-joon killed Kim Hye-yoon.

Bad and Crazy (2021-2022)

Lee Dong-wook plays police detective Ryu Soo-yeol whose life gets thrown a wrench after the appearance of K, played by Wi Ha-joon, who thwarts his corrupt plans by being the voice of reason and justice. Little does Ryu Soo-yeol knows that K is later revealed to be his alter ego and the two develops a “bromance”.

Little Women (2022)

Based on the famous novel by Louisa May Alcott, Kim Go-eun, Nam Ji-hyun and Park Ji-hu play sisters hailing from a poor family as they face up against Korea’s richest family. Wi Ha-joon plays another main character Choi Do-il who gets involved with Kim Go-eun. The drama, which was partially filmed in Singapore, is set to be released in September 2022.
