It is the last proper week of November before we go into December and primary and secondary school students are finally on their long-awaited school holiday. This means that they will be home more often than not, making this period the opportune moment for families to go out together and get some family bonding done.
This week, we have a mixture of events and activities for families to take part in: from festive concerts to a Peranakan heritage tour. Keep reading to find out what we have collated for you!
Take your kids down to the National Art Gallery for a day of play through interactive art. The displays teach children about Home, Diversity, Environment, and Time through nine art installations that promise an immersive experience.
Of these installations, some examples are the Conversations With An Octopus and Head/Home, which centres around a large octopus and creating a cardboard house respectively.

If your children love watching Peppa Pig, it’s time to let them meet their favourite pink friend in person! The Peppa Pig Happy Day Interactive Play event allows them to visit where Peppa Pig lives, which means that they can experience the city and countryside shown in the episodes.
There are many things to do, including slides, racing on bouncy balls, sitting on a mini train, and other interactive technology sections to have fun.

Is your family full of Pokémon lovers (including both adults and children?). Well, you can now celebrate the festive season with your favourite little friends. Enjoy the endless Christmas displays with Pokémon on them, including a six-metre tall Pikachu.
There are also Christmas-themed gifts and rewards for you and the family to pick up.
Part of the event includes Pokémon Wonderland, where will be full of larger-than-life displays to give you multiple photo-taking opportunities for the family (or even just the little one!).
You will also be able to look at demo shots of the games that have officially launched as of 19 November 2021.

With the world focusing on the environment recently, it’s important for children to learn about the importance of recycling and upcycling. Science Centre is rolling out workshops for little ones to do just that. There are three for your tween to take part in, including upcycling plastic bottles, upcycling snack packaging, and using image transfer to put their favourite photos onto rustic-looking wood.
But that’s not all. Take part in other activities, such as turning CDs into dreamcatchers and learning how to live sustainably to protect Earth.

This year, Universal Studios is making Christmas even more fun with their festive-themed events, decoration, and meet-and-greets. Settle you and the family into the special railway and witness Christmas trees inspired by blockbusters such as Jurassic Park, Minions, and the loveable Shrek.
Santa Claus will be walking around to take pictures with those that have been good this year, so remember to have your phone ready to snap pictures of him and your kids.
You can also send your own letters to Santa and watch the postmaster and elves whisk them to the North Pole.

The show revolves around a girl named Clara as she roams the Kingdom of Sweets. What will happen to her? What will she do in such a magical place? Bring your kids down for the show to find out.

As with every year, Gardens by the Bay is gearing up for its Christmas display. Expect to be wowed away by floral displays inspired by traditional confectionary from Nordic countries, including an eight-metre-tall cupcake ferris wheel (can it really get better than that?). Other things to look out for are their candied apple carriage, candy canes, and gingerbread man decorations.
And of course, what is a Christmas at the gardens without some ‘snow’? Make sure to have your phones out, because you won’t want to miss the looks on your kids’ faces when it starts snowing in tropical Singapore.

Have you always wanted to experience Peranakan culture? You and the kids will have the chance to do just that in this SIA cabin crew-led tour. Within the two to three hours heritage tour, you will be brought to a Peranakan Museum and be given the chance to dress up in traditional clothes.
You will also be able to sample authentic Nyonya kueh to satisfy any cravings you might have. For pax of five to 10, for an added cost of $25, you can attend a batik handicraft workshop, while another $45 will promise you an authentic premium lunch on top of everything.

Need an activity to do in the comforts of your own home where you can relax while you and your children have a good time? Fun with Sculptures is an online workshop that teaches children aged six to 10 to create their own stories and sculpture through the use of colour pencils, paper of any kind (A4, construction, or even recycled ones), and other recyclable materials such as bottle caps and old toys.
Sit beside your kids and encourage their creativity as they turn ordinary household products into something of their imagination.

Teaching your children about sustainability doesn’t have to be a full-blown serious talk. Instead, why not attend a T-shirt upcycling workshop? This workshop will teach the family how to turn used T-shirts into yarn and braid it into a necklace, a hairband, or a belt.
Children six years old and above are encouraged to join! The event will be held by Muta Wear.
