It’s been remade a few times and that alone is testament to the allure of this 2004 love story. When philandering Henry Roth unexpectedly falls in love with Lucy Whitmore, he wasn’t ready for the catch — Lucy has short term memory loss, to the point where she can’t remember anything that happened the day before. The determined Henry, played by the goofy yet charming Adam Sandler, vows to win her over every day hence. Everybody say awww.

Chef's Table
custom

Not a movie but hear us out: There is nothing sexier that whipping up a meal for your partner. Get inspired by world class food connoisseurs who create delectable delights that your partners would love. Chef’s Table is the perfect show to master your culinary prowess with maestros like the Godfather of butchers, Dario Cecchini, India’s Asma Khan, Sean Brock, the creator of the Husk Restaurants and Georgia’s Mashama Bailey. Take it one step further and make it a sensorial experience by watching the show as you savour the dinner you made.

The Notebook
custom

No, this is not a story about a laptop, you screen junkie. What you’ll find instead, is a tender and touching story of two young lovers pulled apart by war and class differences. This age-old case of separation tugs at the heartstrings with an engaging script, and played to perfection by its good-looking leads Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams (who went on to date for years after the 2004 film was released). It gets the tear ducts going good, so be ready with those tissues!

Stardust
custom

Have you ever heard a star curse? You can’t expect anything less from author Neil Gaiman. This 2007 commercial remake of his bestselling fantasy title is a not your average fairytale, even if it does contain vain witches, flying pirate ships and a very irritable Claire Danes as a fallen star. See how a hapless lad trying to fulfil his reckless promise to his sweetheart, finds love coming from an unexpected, cosmic place amidst some twisted adventures. A sweet and heartwarming film.

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo
custom

Ok, we’re sneaking in another show here! But nothing spoils the mood more than a cluttered room with junk that doesn’t spark joy. Catch Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and impress your partner with your newly acquired skills in cleaning up a space, giving thanks and most importantly, folding clothes. Put those skills into action and tidy up the room or house you spend the most time with your partner in. Better yet, get them to join in the process! Make it an even more memorable Valentine’s Day as you go through all the sentimental items from your past that hopefully still spark joy.

Tag someone who sparks joy! Pro-tip: if you’re thinking of tagging Marie Kondo, then post someone or something that sparks joy with #gotjoy for a chance to win a consultation with the magical tidying goddess herself – details at got-joy.com

Date Night
custom

People will do anything when they can’t get a reservation. In the case of the Fosters, they pretend to be another couple — the Tripplehorns. Except that the Tripplehorns happen to be dabbling in some shady business. An innocent fib becomes a madcap escape from hired killers, and the hilarious liners from Steve Carell and Tina Fey make this 2010 film about a comedic pair of unintentional fugitives a riot to watch.

Dark Tourist
custom

Does your partner think you are very predictable? Does your partner claim they are adventurous? Time to shake things up and suprise them with a trip inspired by Dark Tourist. Follow renowned investigative journalist David Farrier as he travels the world looking for tourist spots that are truly less travelled, and for good reason. Instead of a sashimi tour in Japan, perhaps try a Nuclear Tour to get those sparks flying again. Can’t settle an argument, clear it in style through a reenactment of a World War II battle in Europe. We promise, it will be a trip to remember – for better or worse isn’t it?

Moonrise Kingdom
custom

This coming-of-age film by director Wes Anderson is all kinds of sweet. Take it back to the old days with your sweetie and reminisce about your own brush with young love. Moonrise Kingdom transports us to the sleepy late summer of 1965 and a New England island called New Penzance, where two 12-year-olds are on the run in this delightful adolescent romance.

Set It Up
custom

This Netflix original movie brings all the feels whether its V-day or not! This office-set romance follows two beleaguered assistants (Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell) who decided to set up their bosses (Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs, respectively) in order to just get some precious free time away from their demanding jobs. However, with all their scheming, they start to fall for each other.  Sounds like a typical rom-com but you’ll be surprised by the outstanding performances.

Would appear that @zoeydeutch and @glenpowell are just as good at setting up people as Harper and Charlie

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
custom

In a parallel universe of ours, Joel (Jim Carrey) seeks out a company that has created the technology to — get this — erase any portion of your memories as per your request. The broken-hearted fella begins the process to eradicate all the experiences he’s had with his ex, Clementine (Kate Winslet), before realising maybe it wasn’t such a good idea after all. Director Michel Gondry creates a bittersweet piece that will linger long after the credits roll.
