Johor princess Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah has married Tampines Rovers Football Club’s former marketing manager Dennis Muhammad Abdullah.

It is a story seemingly straight out of the pages of a fairytale, sprinkled with Disney magic: boy meets girl in a cafe, boy falls in love with girl, turns out girl is a real-life princess.

Dennis, 28, met Princess Tunku Tun Aminah, 31, in a cafe when he worked as a marketing manager for a Singapore football team.

Some three years later, after converting to Islam and leaving his christian name Dennis Verbaas behind, the Dutchman married his princess in a lavish traditional ceremony.

While we wish the happy couple happiness and prosperity for the rest of their lives, we also want the low-down on the Princess’s mysterious new husband. So, without further ado, here are 8 things to know about Dennis the Dutchman:

The groom was born Dennis Verbaas on May 1, 1989, in Lisse, a Dutch town south-west of Amsterdam, and is the second of three children.

Verbaas moved to southeast Asia in his early twenties to work as a photo model. He now works for a property development company in Johor.

He was formerly a marketing manager of Singapore’s Tampines Rovers Football Club.

Mr Dennis was also a semi-professional footballer, and served as manager of the JDT Concept Store and Cafe, where they met.

Their nuptials were the culmination of a three-year romance – the couple are said to have shared “instant chemistry” after their initial meeting.

He attended Fioretti College Hillegom in the Netherlands before studying mechanical engineering at ROC Leiden.
