This will avoid an unexpected trip back home and save you the hassle of having to call your boss for an urgent childcare leave when you’re dropping off your kids on the way to work.
While teachers understand that you might be rushing to get to work in the morning, a proper goodbye and hand over (to teachers) will send a calming message to your child and let them know that school is a fun place to be at.
Children can sense their parents’ anxiety and act up once they pick up their insecurities.
If your child is new to the school, project an image of calmness and stay relaxed when dropping your child at school — no matter how much they’re acting up.
Predictability and routines assist preschoolers in adjusting to new environments and will give them a better sense of time too.
Drop off time in the morning is one of the busiest transition times for teachers in school.
So instead of lingering around, trying to calm your child before school, establish a routine as mentioned and drop them off with a simple goodbye and remind them that you’ll pick them up at a stipulated timing. It’ll make drop off a lot easier.
Most preschools have a communication book where you can write requests and communicate with teachers.
If you’d like to request for a quick phone call with your child during lunch time, write it in the communication book so your child’s teacher is aware and can make arrangements for you.
Follow the rules when it comes to stipulated drop off locations. Don’t drop your child off at places where you’re not allowed to be at.
Children learn from example and parents set the standard for their kids when it comes to discipline and following the rules.
Show up early so your kids get a chance to settle down and meet their teachers.
Most of the time, teachers run on a strict schedule and have different activities planned for the day. When your child shows up late for school, they would miss out on certain activities and will have zero to no idea of what’s going on.
On your way to school, get your child excited for the day by asking them what they’ll be doing or telling them how exciting school is going to be.
If they’ve got an excursion coming up, count down to excursion day with them. Such positive reinforcements will help them think of school in a different way.
Teachers often get frustrated when parents do not put in effort in their child’s work or understand what they’re doing in school.
When your child gets sent home with an activity that needs completing, help your child and get them excited too. It helps them associate great things with school.
