Tucked away amongst the verdant greenery of Labrador Nature Park, this newly opened two-storey colonial hotel might just be your new favourite alternative to a Sentosa staycay.
Although there are only 20 rooms available, each is housed in a rustic space, and the more upscale ones come with private plunge pools.

The first hotel to belong to the Luxury Collection group, The Duxton Club will be housed in two restored pre-war colonial shophouses: The Duxton House and The Duxton Terrace.
The former is slated to open on June 1 and will house 50 rooms, while the latter – designed by renowned architect Jacques Garcia, who was involved in restoring the Louvre and the palace of Versailles – will debut a month later with 138 rooms.
Its interior will reportedly feature oriental influences in a luxe setting, while the hotel will also open a private cigar room and an exclusive members’ club upon completion.

Edgy, quirky and appealing to the savvy luxury traveller, The South Beach hotel was Singapore’s first Philippe Starck-designed hotel.
It had one of the loudest lobbies in town. Its reception area was called the “Global Village” and check-in desks were inspired by various cultures.
Neon lights were mixed with antique lamps while guests mingled at statement fixtures, such as a 7m-long Arabascato marble table.
But this version as people knew it is no more. The hotel is now rebranded the 634-room JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, reflecting its new corporate operator Marriott International. It is the world’s largest hotel chain, with 30 hotel brands – including The Ritz-Carlton and W Hotels – under its umbrella.

Housed in a four-storey conservation shophouse in Outram Road and comprising 11 rooms with 68 beds, Coo blends nostalgic references with techie frills.
All over its walls and ceiling are graphic prints featuring “kopitiam uncles”, Tiong Bahru’s iconic Art Deco architecture, local kueh and “Bob”, a neighbourhood tabby cat.
In a bistro on the first level, an abstract map of Tiong Bahru fashioned out of neon lights is suspended from the ceiling.
The four-month-old hostel takes it one step further with a social media- like “digital interest matching tool” to get guests mingling even before they arrive.
Once travellers have booked their stay at the hostel, they can log on to Coo Connect to create a profile. They can find others who will be staying there at the same time and link up with like-minded travellers to plan activities or chat.
