Halloween is upon us again, and while it’s a little different this year, celebs have gone all out with their costumes to celebrate the spooky festival. Here are some of the best celebrity costumes of 2020, as well as of past years. Inspiration for next year, maybe?
From spooky to cutie, no one does Halloween like the celebrities do. With copious amounts of money, time and help at their disposal, celebrity Halloween costumes as well as those for their children are often over-the-top creations that make jaws drop.
Here are the best ones in our humble opinion but do let us know if we missed out on any spook-tacular creations:
The genie’s out of the bottle this year for Christina Aguilera, who was smoking hot in a skin-tight red latex suit, bejewelled makeup, and of course, a lamp.
Madonna, is that you? Nope, it’s fellow superstar Jennifer Lopez who paid tribute to the Queen of Pop, channeling her iconic “Like a Virgin” look at the latter’s first award show performance at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards.

Meanwhile, sister Kylie also took a walk on the wild side with this vampy king cobra-inspired look.
Bella Hadid’s quite literally a work of art, drawing on famous American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein’s paintings.
Singer Halsey’s impression of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, and her all-blue hair and makeup is pretty much perfection — and she did the makeup all by herself. Consider us impressed.

You can always count on Heidi Klum for the best Halloween costumes, and she’s done it again — not with an outrageous outfit but with an entire video shot at home to celebrate Halloween amidst these unprecedented times. It starts with her telling her disgruntled kids that they’re celebrating Halloween at home, before getting them dressed up as mummies with the toilet paper she’d bought in a panic back in March.
After getting the runs from a ‘bad sausage’ she ate, and out of toilet paper, she finds her children (as well as husband Tom Kaulitz) have all turned into real zombies!
Singapore singers Alfred Sim and Tay Kewei took their family of four on a Journey to the West with this hilarious and super adorable get-up, with Dad and Mom as Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong, while the kids were dressed as Tang Sanzang and Sha Wujing.
Riverdale trio Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes got into the cutest Powerpuff Girls getups when they attended a Halloween baby shower for their co-star Vanessa Morgan.

Chrissy Teigen got into the spirit of Halloween with an ethereal ballerina look straight out of thriller Black Swan while husband John Legend got in on the fun with a Spiderman costume.

Back in 2019, the whole family dressed up as characters from Sleeping Beauty, though Miles, Legend’s and Teigen’s son refused to co-operate.

In 2019, the Kardashian-Wests went as The Flintstones with even notoriously camera-shy Kanye West as Dino!

Singapore’s sweetheart, Fann Wong, is getting into the spirit of Halloween early this year. She gave us a spook-tacular scare when she posted a photo of herself and her adorable 5-year-old son Zed dressed up as a Ghostbuster and a pumpkin respectively. The pair were at Kidzania where the spooky season is in full swing!

Aye aye matey! Neil Patrick Harris and his adorable family always have the best costumes for Halloween. The whole family goes all out and often match each other in theme. Here they are being impressive-looking pirates who are no doubt looking for some candy treasure. They bring the spook-tastic every year, check out this throwback to when they dressed up as Wizard of Oz characters:

Last year, Hong Kong actress Cathy Chui (who at the time had just given birth to her fourth child in early October) shared a picture of her and her son dressed in The Addams Family costumes on her Instagram. We think they look fabulous!

We’re clucking mad about this feathery creation that funnyman Jimmy Fallon dressed his kiddo up in for Halloween some years ago. I guess he really likes the joke: “Why did the chicken cross the road?”
Taiwanese star Terri Kwan got her whole family into the Halloween spirit with these matching police look. We think everyone looks amazing and wouldn’t want to be caught on the wrong side of the law when this family is out and about!
Beyonce knows how to make an impact and she chose this lookalike mummy-daughter get-up for herself and Blue Ivy once Halloween rolled around in. We think Janet Jackson and the late King of Pop would approve don’t you?
We’re used to seeing Kim in much less than this so imagine our surprise when she buttoned up and decided to dress up as Vogue editor Anna Wintour for Halloween one time. Her adorable daughter, North, meanwhile dressed up as the magazine’s former editor-at-large, Andre Leon Talley. GENIUS!
If we didn’t tell you it was Wang Leehom behind that comical mustache, would you have known? The Taiwanese singer looks somewhat unrecognisable in his Halloween costume alongside his gorgeous wife who is rocking her Arabian Princess outfit. Their little bub meanwhile is concealed behind a pumpkin emoji but we’re counting this one as an outfit, why not!
Viola Davis’ daughter Genesis went as, well, Viola Davis. It’s a truly ingenious choice by a young girl who is wise beyond her years! Give her an Oscar already.
Trust Gwyneth to bust out a classic outfit during Halloween that will still get everyone talking. She and her daughter Apple chose this very DIY-able skeleton “outfit” for Halloween past but we wonder if the face paint she used was organic? Hmm…
Hong Kong actress, Cathy Chow’s son, Jacques is the most adorable vampire we’ve ever seen! He doesn’t scare us one bit and if you’re looking for an easy to replicate outfit for your own Halloween celebration, this seems like a winner!
