The June Holidays are upon us, which means a whole month of activities to plan for the kids. 

If you’re looking for ways to keep your little ones entertained during the June school holidays without resorting to digital devices, here are a few options. Whether it’s a day of family fun or picking up a new hobby, these activities, events, and holiday camps will keep your kids happy, occupied and learning while school’s out.

i Light Singapore

Snap some family pictures and be awed by the beautiful installations at the i Light festival, which will feature creative artworks from both professional and student artists. For a multi-sensory journey, you can also embark on a specially constructed floating pontoon boat at the Lower Boardwalk at Marina Bay. 

There will also be a ticketed area – the Lightwave: Isle of Light – that has five unique zones with immersive features. Enjoy enchanting holographic projections, illuminated motion-capture graphics and shadows, and light beams that will remind you of a mystical forest. 

When: 3 – 26 June 2022, 7.30pm – 11pm daily
Fees: Admission is free, with tickets to Lightwave: Isle of Light starting at $6

i Light Singapore
Children’s Festival @ Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay’s Children’s Festival is back, and it features eight giant inflatable installations and two interactive zones.

Themed Around the World with Kiztopia, the eight inflatable installations will feature well-loved Kiztopia Friends characters in hot-air balloons, all hailing from different countries. These Instagram-worthy installations measure up to 12.5 metres tall, and bear iconic international landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and Mount Fuji.

There will also be two ticketed interactive zones for the kids to enjoy. At Happy’s Craft World, kids can try their hand at a variety of craft activities, including clay art painting and scratch painting. Meanwhile, Tiger’s Sports Arena features five inflatables of sports and carnival games such as basketball and ring toss.

When: 28 May – 19 June 2022
Fees: Admission to the festival is free. Tickets for the interactive zones are priced at $8 per person for one craft activity at Happy’s Craft World, and $18 per person to enter Tiger’s Sports Arena. There’s also a bundle deal of $22 per person for one craft activity and access to Tiger’s Sports Arena.

Gardens by the Bay
Groovy Summer @ USS

For all minion-fans, Universal Studio Singapore’s Groovy Summer is here to delight you with a day of minion-themed fun.

Say hello to your favourite minions at the Groovy Meet-and-Greet, where they will be decked out in stylish 70s outfits. Catch the mischievous minions as they break out their karate kicks and chops at the Minion Fu Show, where you’re promised a performance you won’t forget. And don’t forget to also snap some pictures at the retro psychedelic photo-ops to commemorate the groovy extravaganza!

Jurassic World Dominion Dining Adventure @ USS

Get up close and personal with various dinosaurs (including a life-sized T-rex!) in this Jurassic World Dominion-themed dining experience.

Children’s Season 2022 museum installations and activities

Children’s Season is back this year with a whole range of fun and educational activities across the different participating museums and galleries. 

This will be the first night-themed Children’s Season, so get ready for night-time storytelling, craft activities, and opportunities for the kids to explore the museums after the sun sets. If you’re up for the challenge, pick up an event passport, and go around collecting stamps from all the participating museums. Then, watch as these uniquely-designed passport stamps come alive in the dark.

National Museum of Singapore
Army open house

After five long years, the Army Open House is finally back. 

While there is a virtual exhibition and two heartland locations this year, the main exhibition will take place at the F1 Pit Building. Experience what it’s like on board one of SAF’s military platforms in the Battle Rides, or take on the Soldier Strong Obstacle Course. There will also be a dedicated Kids Zone with plenty of fun activities for the little ones, including camo face painting, balloon sculpting, a jungle maze, and a mini obstacle course.
