How Gal Gadot’s Salary Compares To 7 Other Superhero Actors

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you probably know that the male-female salary gap in Hollywood is still alive and well.

June 22, 2017

The male-female salary gap in Hollywood is still alive and well, and now there’s another Tinseltown pay gap scandal that this time is centered around Wonder Woman.

According to recent reports, Gal Gadot was only paid $300K for her starring role in this superhero flick, which seems awfully low considering it’s already made millions at the box office.

We thought it might be illuminating to look at what some other Hollywood guys were paid for their lead roles in superhero films too:

How Gal Gadot's Salary Compares To 7 Other Superhero Actors
1. Henry Cavill for Man of Steel: $14M

While Henry Cavill’s pay has been a bone of contention for Gal’s supporters, it’s unclear whether Henry was paid $14M upfront or if this was his total earnings from the Man of Steel movie — including back-end compensation and box office bonuses.

2. Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool: $2M upfront

Blake Lively’s bae definitely worked out the sweetest deal. Not only was he paid two million dollars UPFRONT, but he was the only actor in the film eligible for back-end compensation. Once the film crossed $500 million in the box office, Ryan apparently cashed in an extra 10 million dollars.

3. Chris Hemsworth for Thor: 200K

Whoever negotiated this Chris’ contract really screwed up, because he was way underpaid for his lead role in Thor. They made up for it though because when he reprised the role for Avengers: Age of Ultron, he was paid a cool five million dollars.

4. Chris Pratt for Guardians of the Galaxy: $350K

Another Marvel film, the former Parks and Recreation guy was still paid slightly more than Gal for his part as Star Lord. (In comparison, Zoe Saldana was paid a puny $100K for her role as Gamora in the movie.)

5. Chris Evans for Captain America: $300K
image

Chris Evans is on par with Gal in terms of his first movie salary BUT his pay went up to two-freakin’-million dollars for the Avengers flick, whereas Gal’s three-movie contract keeps her at $300K upfront for every film (this is subject to change, however, as the actress is reportedly about to enter into a major renegotiation deal).

6. Paul Rudd for Ant-Man: $300K

Paul and Gal were offered the same amount of cash upfront. Then again, Ant-Man made $519.3 million dollars in the Box Office all-in-all, and Wonder Woman has already surpassed that number in under a month.

7. Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man: $500K

It’s not like Emma Stone’s ex had a ton of big roles prior to Spider-Man, so the fact that he was paid up to $200k more than Gal is definitely fishy. That said, Spider-Man is under Marvel and Wonder Woman is DC Entertainment.
