Here’s Where To Buy Designer Clothes Cheaper (And For A Good Cause)

Love designer clothes, but can’t handle the over-inflated price tags? The Singapore Committee for UN Women’s Buy to Save sale is here to solve your woes.

by Natalya Molok  /   October 24, 2017

Love designer clothes, but can’t handle the over-inflated price tags? The Singapore Committee for UN Women’s Buy to Save sale happening next weekend is here to solve your woes and dress you up from head to toe.

Best of all – when you buy these upcycled designer clothes, shoes and handbags you’ll help up achieve our goal of ending violence against women.

Here's How Buying Designer Clothes Can Help Stop Violence Against Women

80 per cent of net proceeds from Buy To Save will support the Singapore Committee for UN Women’s advocacy against gender-based violence, including outreach through the “Help Anna” campaign and “Her Justice” workshops in Singapore.

10 per cent of net proceeds will fund UN Women’s Cambodia Roka Commune project, to empower women living with HIV and to secure livelihoods. Another 10 per cent of net proceeds will fund the UN Women Safe Cities Metro Manila Programme, to reduce the risks of sexual harassment and violence in public spaces.

On average one in three women will experience a form of violence in their lifetime. Here’s how to help someone you know and love escape their never-ending circle of abuse:

Here's Where To Buy Designer Clothes Cheaper (And For A Good Cause)
1. Know the warning signs

Learn the tell-tale signs that someone has an abusive partner. Maybe your friend is constantly checking in with her partner before she’ll go anywhere or spend even the smallest amount of money. Maybe your co-worker’s spouse always finds ways to shame him in public. There are many clues, you just have to know what to look for.

2. Be supportive at all costs

Your friend or loved one may decide to stay in their abusive relationship, or they may leave and then go back many times. It may be hard for you to understand, but people stay in abusive relationships for many reasons. Be supportive, no matter what the person you’re trying to help decides to do.

3. Find different ways to support them

It’s not always easy to accept help in this kind of situation. If they don’t want your help with the details of their abuse or don’t want to leave, remember that it’s not your job to be a hero. Your role is to support them in whatever way they need and guide them towards the professionals who are trained to provide lasting help.

4. Make sure they know that help is accessible

A lot of the times, victims of domestic violence would seek out help if they knew they could. Make sure they know that there is help for any victim of domestic abuse and help them locate the nearest domestic violence agency. Know where your local agency is so you can help someone get there.

5. Get involved

If this post has left you inspired to help people beyond those in your life, there are a bunch of amazing organisations working to help end domestic abuse and provide care to survivors. Support them by offering to volunteer, because every little gesture counts no matter how small.
