Hong Kong TVB heartthrob Ruco Chan tied the knot with 28-year-old budding actress Phoebe Sin on a yacht over the weekend of October 15, 2018 amid blue skies and beautiful views of HK harbour.
The 41-year-old actor-singer arrived on a speedboat before boarding the yacht for the ceremony. They exchanged their vows in the presence of 50 guests.
“Although I was excited, I had a good night’s sleep as I wanted this to be a memorable moment for the two of us,” said the groom. Jump on board and check out the dreamy photos from their nautical wedding:

Hong Kong media reported that Ruco was slightly nervous while saying his vows because he wanted it to be perfect. This was what he allegedly said, “I invited everyone here to witness I, Ruco Chan, making Phoebe Sin my legal wife. From the start when we first met to becoming partners, we were not only friends and lovers, you give me happiness and satisfaction when I laugh. When I cry, you will quietly stand by my side and shield me from the wind and rain. Now I finally understand when two people come together, it’s not 1+1=2, but rather it’s 0.5+0.5=1. Marriage requires compromise. I promise you that I’ll be loyal to you in my lifetime.”
Hoping to give his bride an unforgettable wedding in peaceful surroundings, it was Ruco’s idea to have their wedding ceremony on a yacht. “I really did have an unforgettable time, since we had to consider many problems that could happen on a yacht,” said Phoebe at a post-wedding press conference with the HK media.
Aside from the tight schedule and worrying about rain, the couple had to consider if any guests would get sea sick and even selected their dock location based on wind direction. The bride said their dream wedding was a difficult one to plan, but Phoebe also added that Ruco is very organised and tackled all the issues they had one by one.
Earlier that morning, Ruco arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong to receive the bride. Smiling at reporters, the 41-year-old actor said he had a good night’s sleep and didn’t feel especially nervous.
The couple followed the Chinese tradition where a red umbrella was held over the bride’s head to protect her from evil spirits as they boarded the car, accompanied by groomsmen, former ATV actors Derek To and Jerry Leung and Phoebe’s good friends, Tiffany Lau and Joyce Ngai.
The couple reportedly splurged approximately a million Hong Kong dollars (~S$180,000) on their wedding, but they’re not done yet. The couple will follow up with a larger party in a few days to include more of their entertainment industry friends.
Phoebe looked stunning in a red qipao and embroidered high heels, while Ruco wore a black Chinese tunic suit with a gold dragon design on the left chest.
An evening banquet followed at the Four Seasons Hotel, where Ruco reportedly serenaded the bride and made her cry happy tears. Although the banquet was intimate in size, Ruco invited many of former ATV stars which he had deep friendships with, such as Alice Chan, Elena Kong, Andrew Yuen, Nina Paw. Yvonne Lam and Lau Dan also attended.
After their wedding, the couple will not immediately go on their honeymoon since they have already traveled to London and Paris in September for their pre-wedding photoshoot. Ruco will also start filming a new drama in December. While the couple say they want children, they are not in a rush and will let conception happen naturally.
As to whether Phoebe will continue to work after marriage, Ruco said, “I respect her decision whatever it may be. Phoebe has only been in the entertainment industry for two years. There are still many things she hasn’t tried yet.”
