How Meghan Markle Is Snubbing Royal Tradition And Doing Things Her Way For The Royal Birth

Meghan Markle isn’t one to do things by the books. See how she’s snubbing royal tradition and doing things her way for the royal birth of Baby Sussex.

April 12, 2019

When it comes to the birth of your very first baby, it’s safe to assume many would be hell bent on doing things the way they’re comfortable with.

But for royal mums, there are certain strict traditions and rules that had become the norm… until now.

Indeed, with Meghan Markle mere weeks out from giving birth, it’s become clear that she’s choosing not to stick to the royal traditions that have existed for royals before her – and we can’t help but applaud her confidence.

In what way will Meghan be snubbing royal traditions?

According to a new report, Meghan has snubbed the Queen’s “highly regarded” team of birthing doctors, and chosen her own delivery team, which will be led by a female.

The report claims that the Queen’s recommended team is led by two males, Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who are specialists in high-risk births. They delivered all three of Duchess Catherine and Prince William’s children.

A source revealed to the publication: “Meghan said she doesn’t want the men in suits. She was adamant that she wanted her own people. It did leave a few of us a little baffled.”

The male doctors are among the world’s most highly regarded, so Meghan’s choice has not come without some surprise.

“It is slightly surprising. These people [the Queen’s doctors] are the best of the best and when it comes down to it, their role would actually be very limited in the birth itself, assuming all goes to plan,” another source said.

Meanwhile, sources who are close to the Duchess said her decision to exclude the doctors was for “personal” reasons.

“Above all, this is her birth, her baby, and she must do whatever feels right for her. How could anyone judge her for that?” the source said.

And despite some debate around the costly nature of Meghan’s decision to hire an entirely new team of doctors, the inside source said she hasn’t caused any upset within the royal family.

“No one has thought anything of it because it really is ever so personal,” they said.

It is also understood that Meghan might snub the Lindo Wing as the place to give birth.

Duchess Catherine, Princess Diana and other royals have given birth there for a number of decades, but according to reports, it seems Meghan might be choosing a different route when it comes to Baby Sussex.

Given Meghan and Harry’s move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor last week, it is expected that Meghan will opt to give birth somewhere closer to home, if not, at home itself!

When will we know when Meghan has given birth?

A new report has given us a clear cut signal on when we’ll know Baby Sussex has arrived – and it’s all to do with Meghan’s mum Doria.

Insiders have claimed Doria will fly to the UK to be by Meghan’s side for the birth of the royal baby.

“Doria should be here for the birth and will be staying. But then she has to get back to her dogs and work,” a source revealed to the publication.

They also claimed Doria would be bringing over posters from Meghan’s old home in Toronto to dress up their new digs at Frogmore Cottage.

“Harry and Meghan want to make Frogmore as homely as possible and Meghan has brought over a lot of posters,’ the source added.

Ragland, a yoga teacher, is expected to be heavily involved in the first few months of the royal baby’s life.

Royal commentator Victoria Murphy reiterated this crucial role, saying she believed Doria’s role would be “hugely important”.

“With the royals, the biggest thing for them is this issue of trust and finding people who they can really trust,” she said.

“Of course, Meghan knows she can really trust her mum. Her mum is definitely going to be a pivotal figure.”
