Nathan Hartono is looking to do Singapore proud when he takes to stage at the Beijing Bird’s Nest Stadium for the Sing! China final.

At the finals, Nathan will sing at least two Mandarin songs – a duet with his mentor Jay Chou and a solo.
The 25-year-old singer said he will be trying out many things that he had never done before on stage, including dancing, rapping and performing an “interesting” instrument that he would not reveal.

If Singaporeans have their way, Nathan will be coming home with the Sing! China crown. In an online poll, over 82 percent of those who voted say that he will win.
Nathan may be downplaying his chances in the final but he’ll still have to beat some stiff competition to win the reality TV contest. Read on for a reminder of who he’s up against:
Who: The pop sweetie from Penang, Malaysia, was fifth in the semi-final with a score of 81.95 (39 judge votes, 306 audience votes).
Lee vs Hartono: They are the two foreigners in the final tonight and at the same disadvantage, in that no foreigner has won the show yet.
Who: The folk singer from Bortala, Xinjiang came fourth in the semi-final with a score of 82.07.
Jiang vs Hartono: He took the most audience votes in the semi-final, 348 out of 350. He is second in the popularity poll, with 90.9 million votes.
Who: The a cappella singer from Guangzhou came second in the semi-final. Her vocal range has been praised by Chou. Her performance of Eason Chan’s Love Shift and Under Mount Fuji (the same song in Mandarin and Cantonese) is one of the most popular clips from the contest.
Wang vs Hartono: Wang’s semi-final score, 89.28 (44 judge votes, 323 audience votes), is not far behind Hartono’s 93.65 (47 judge votes, 333 audience votes).
Who: The self-taught rock singer from Shenyang was third in the semi-final with a score of 88.36.
Xu vs Hartono: She is extremely popular. In the semi-final, she took 344 audience votes, 11 more than him. A Sing! China popularity poll online puts her in the overwhelming lead, with 137.6 million votes. Hartono’s name does not appear in the top 10 of the poll.
Who: The belter from Liaoning took the last of six spots in the final with a score of 81.68 (38 judge votes, 311 audience votes).
Yang vs Hartono: She shouldn’t be a threat to him. Also, her coach is Harlem Yu.
