Reports emerged on Tuesday (Feb 19) that Duchess Meghan had touched down in New York to celebrate her baby shower with her nearest and dearest. It’s a sweet homecoming for the retired American actress, who gave up her life in the States when she got married to Prince Harry.

The royal mum-to-be has been spotted in the Big Apple for the grand festivities to celebrate her upcoming motherhood status in style. Her short five-day trip was meant to catch up with her American friends, including tennis star Serena Williams and lawyer Amal Clooney, who generously picked up the reported $200,000 bill for the event.
Meghan even reportedly flew home back to Britain on Amal’s private plane! According to Vanity Fair, sources close to Meghan say the shower was a chance for the Duchess to again show she is living her life on her terms and not sticking to official royal protocol.
See all the photos from Meghan’s surprise homecoming trip to the US, including a super sweet gesture that the Duchess did during her baby shower:
The shower began with a flower-arranging session, followed by a dessert-tasting experience overseen by The Mark hotel’s head chef. Meghan’s makeup artist friend Daniel Martin, who did her makeup for her royal wedding, posted an adorable photo of some of the on-theme cookies at the baby shower.
“Such an incredible day celebrating #babylove,” he penned.
The florist who arranged the flowers also shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from inside the shower – notice the beautiful orange tree in the background?
Guest Gayle King, who is the best friend of Oprah, said the flower arrangements made by guests at the shower were later donated to charity.
“We all each made an individual vase,” Gayle said on US breakfast show CBS This Morning. “Then Meghan, at her request, got in touch with an organisation I’ve never heard of with, called Repeat Roses, and they were all donated to different charities.
“I thought that was a very sweet thing… It just speaks to who she is. She’s kind, she’s very generous. And a really, really sweet person.”
The charity Repeat Roses has shared photos from inside the shower as their florist prepared for the event at the Mark Hotel before sharing a slew of shots of children from a local cancer charity with the bouquets made by Meghan and her guests.
Repeat Roses shared these precious snapshots of cancer patients at Ronald McDonald house with bouquets of Meghan’s flowers.
One of Meghan’s good friends, Amal Clooney, stepped out looking chic and sharp on the snowy afternoon.
American-based fashion designer Misha, who reportedly set up the blind date between Meghan and Harry, showed up at the baby shower with a huge bag of gifts.
A cotton candy machine was delivered to The Mark Hotel, where the baby shower was held.
Ahead of the duchess’s arrival, security was upped with barriers secured around the five star The Mark Hotel in New York’s Upper East Side hotel. Photographers captured a team of florists delivering hundreds of spring flowers to the venue.
Amongst the orange and yellow tulips, there was an abundance of pink roses- is this a subtle clue that Meghan and Harry are expecting a daughter?
One delivery person also carried carried what looked like orange tree, a symbol of prosperity, happiness and luck in Eastern culture.
Presents and cards in honour of Baby Sussex were also spotted being delivered, including a three-in-one convertible Hudson crib valued at £290 (AU$528.79).
According to the website, it is “made with eco-friendly, non-toxic materials backed with Greenguard Gold certification. An included toddler bed conversion kit allows you to seamlessly convert from crib to toddler bed to daybed.”

Meghan’s close friend and former Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, arrives at the hotel bearing a bag of gifts, purportedly for the baby shower.
Dressed in a chic Courrèges coat, black trousers and nude heels accessorised with large black sunglasses, the Duchess of Sussex kept a protective hand on her baby bump as she left for lunch with Abigail ahead of the shower. They reportedly headed to the Michelin-starred Café Boulud inside the Surrey Hotel just a few blocks away.
Following their lunch, Meghan and Abigail returned to the hotel for the baby shower celebrations and it seems that the pregnant royal’s friends have spared no expense.
According to HELLO!, preparations for the royal baby shower began early on Tuesday, with Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney at the helm.

Among the 15 guests expected to attend the royal baby shower are best friends Jessica Mulroney, Abigail Spencer and Misha Nonoo (pictured above), a fashion designer who reportedly set Meghan and Harry up on their first blind date.
Royal reporter Omid Scobie also told Good Morning America that the baby shower is “a reunion of sorts for Meghan.”
“[Guests] include best pal Jessica Mulroney, actress and close pal Abigail Spencer has flown in and Priyanka Chopra is supposed to be flying in especially for this from London Fashion Week.”
The fun didn’t stop there. The royal was spotted arriving at the swanky Polo Bar restaurant with her inner circle. In the photo above, she’s seen with Markus Anderson, who has been one of her best friends for years.
Meghan was all wrapped up in a navy Victoria Beckham coat (which she also wore on Christmas Day last year), as well as maternity skinny jeans and a pair of black boots. She completed her look with a black leather Stella McCartney purse and a black scarf.
The tennis superstar, who was also a guest at Meghan’s royal wedding last year, was also in attendance, cutting a sharp figure in black combat boots and a long black coat with a plaid lining.
Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney and Meghan’s unofficial stylist showed up as well, wearing a gorgeous plaid trench coat.
Baby showers are typically something that the royal family avoids. However, it is a big tradition in Meghan’s native US.
Royal expert Victoria Arbiter previously told The Sun that since royals are “very wealthy, a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate. There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves”.
Duchess Meghan’s trip across the pond has certainly been a busy one. On Saturday, the duchess indulged in some shopping and visited Laduree in SoHo for macarons and tea for a private visit.
A witness told Us Weekly that she and her friend were seen “having a lovely time, laughing and talking with each other.”
This isn’t the only celebration ahead of Baby Sussex’s arrival though.
According to Scobie, Duchess Meghan will have another baby shower for her loved ones based in the UK when she returns to London after her official royal visit to Morocco with Prince Harry.
The countdown is on!
