As we leave November and enter December, the school holidays are in full swing. This can only mean one thing: family-friendly activities galore. With the kids having more time on their hands, you may be thinking of taking a break from work to bring the family out for some fun, and this is a great time to do so.
Whether you and your loved ones love arts and crafts or have a fascination with gems and crystals, this week’s list of family-friendly activities will make the next seven days more exciting.
It’s almost December, and Christmas festivities are up and running at Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES. In this event that you don’t want to miss, bring your kid to experience a tree that is not only larger than life but can sing, a skating ring, snow (and playing with it), and a projection mapping of Christmas scenes.
There will also be side-cares that everyone in the family can ride on, including pets! And of course, there will be Christmas carols playing in the backdrop to put you right into the mood for the gifting season.

S.E.A Aquarium is back with another event for families. Join your kid as you dance along to the aquarium’s special version of Pinkfong’s Baby Shark, take wefies with Mommy and Daddy shark dressed up in festive costumes, and make sure to have your phone out for when your little one steps on an interactive pathway that plays ‘Baby Shark’.

Coding doesn’t have to be super complicated. Children are more than capable of learning how to code, and Apple has virtual sessions to make your kid (and you) familiar with it. There are three tiers of sessions: Learn to Code 1, Learn to Code 2, and Lights, Camera, Code. So whether your child is a beginner or is experienced with coding, they will be able to learn something new.

Is your child obsessed with cute drawings? Well, you can now learn how to draw them as a family. This three-hour-long course teaches all the basics for drawing cartoons and chibis for you and your kid to get started on your art journey.
Help your child or let them have free reign of their creativity; whichever suits their learning style best! Encourage them and cheer them on as they complete their own masterpiece. All materials are provided, so all you need is an interest in drawing.

Reading may be a great source of enrichment, but listening to stories is also good for encouraging creativity in children. Attend a storytelling session with your kid, where the both of you can listen to fantastical tales full of fun and excitement. Only children below seven years old will have to be accompanied by an adult, but we recommend going to the event together for some family bonding.

Treat your child to a night out with Untame: After Dark. Science Centre Singapore will be extending their opening hours to 10:30pm and many activities and performances await.
Crave some action? Hunt for the golden seed with the family with the BlasterNight Battle where you will be equipped with foamblasters to shoot enemies – there are even three different game modes to take part in!
Enter the four zones of fun: the Food Zone, where you can feast on delicious food, the Market Zone to enjoy some therapy shopping, the Activity Zone which is filled with old-school arcade games and neon mazes, and the Lifestyle Zone where you can chill with your kid in an immersive virtual environment with a 360-degree wall projection.
If that’s not enough, you can watch the premiere of “The Electrified Show”, a magic show that uses lights, lasers, multimedia and robotics to deliver a stunning display.

Get into the festive spirit by making your own Christmas-themed goodies! From snowman cupcakes to gingerbread cookies, your child will be the baker for the day, from making and baking the dough to decorating their designs, while you help them.
This event is great for any child who is an aspiring baker (professional or not) who wants to learn how to create Christmas treats to enjoy.

It’s time to get your dancing shoes on with this free workshop! Be immersed in a storytelling session and dance along with the characters to get both a workout and enrich your child’s mind. There will be specially-curated games for you to play with your little one and bond with them.
