The spookiest day of the year is around the corner and there soon will be lots of reasons to dress up and “scare” each other. But in the meantime we have an exciting list of celebratory to-dos and family-friendly events for you to spend your weekends. From a dramatic nature documentary debut to a cheery Oktoberfest celebration where the family can feast to their hearts delight, there’s lots to do before Halloween hits our shores.
The Museum of Ice Cream invites all fellow trick-or-treaters to join them for a spook-tacular Halloween while enjoying an unlimited fill of the sweetest treats and tricks. Wander through 14 spook-ified installations that may or may not blurt out a peek-a-boo or creep through other experiences in the museum while dressed in your favourite halloween costumes for an other-worldly adventure.

Presenting a spectacular installation of colourful and glow-in-the-dark interactive displays, the Light Meets Night thematic cruise is a world of bright colours and neon lights. For the adults, the ship’s Zouk Beach Club transforms into a magical outdoor wonderland under the stars with colourful displays and projectors, perfect for that Instagram or Selfie moment. Kids are also in for a real treat with the ‘Glow-in-the-Dark Bouncy Playground’, which are illuminated under the starry nights and packed with fun-filled games. Also, chill out to some of Singapore’s renowned street musicians and buskers with unique dance and light performances or develop your artisan skills at the onboard Arts and Crafts workshops to create glow-in-the-dark paintings, merchandise and T-Shirts.
In the following months, you can also look forward to a series of other thematic cruises, including the Clowning Around Halloween cruise (from Oct 16), a Special Diwali Celebration, and a Sensational Voyage focusing on wellness. For a festive year-end getaway, hop on the Jelilo Christmas cruise, which will feature the creations of one of Singapore’s famous art and toy creators from Gagatree.

End off the day by posing it out in a Frozen Planet II themed photo booth.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been one of the biggest crises to hit our shores but it has also been the greatest show of the Singapore Spirit. Project Lionheart seeks to highlight and champion five core qualities – Hope, Duty, Compassion, Invention and Strength, that have weathered us through the pandemic. Expect art installations, wall murals, music, theatre performances, and short films by more than 30 local artists, muralists, filmmakers and musicians from October 2022 to January 2023.
A launch exhibition will debut from 6 to 12 October at Ang Mo Kio Central Stage and continue to travel and transform heartland spaces with stories and art till January 2023.
Open to the public, the launch exhibition will feature a key art installation by Lee Wei Lieh (Wei) from Very Small Exhibition, a collective that creates interactive and meaningful public art.

As part of the Flower Dome’s ever changing garden display, the month of October features a floral display with inspiration from the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. Expect pretty Petunias, the ever bright Sunflower and Pelargonium, a genus of flowering plants that excuse accents of rose, lemon and even nutmeg.
In the South American Garden, catch Flamenco, an art form that combines vocal music, dance and musical accompaniment into a visually-stunning performance.
