Chinese Horoscopes 2018: What's In The Stars For Your Year Of The Dog Baby

What are the auspicious dates for giving birth in the 2018 Year of the Dog, and what’s in store for your Year Of The Dog baby?

Bragging rights for those born in the Year of the Dog this year go to the newborn who arrives on Feb 4, 2018 from 5.38am. Yes, it begins even before Chinese New Year on Feb 16, according to the solar calendar that is used in the field of fengshui. The Year of the Dog ends on Feb 4, 2019 at 11.28am.

The auspicious dates for giving birth mostly fall in the first, second and fifth lunar month (Feb 16 to April 15, and June 14 to July 12). Having a favourable birth date may improve your child’s prospect of enjoying a smooth-sailing life.

Grand Master Tan Khoon Yong, chief geomancer from Way Fengshui Group, gives his zodiac forecast and fengshui advice.

Typically, those who are born under the Dog zodiac sign are goal-oriented and resilient. They have a strong sense of responsibility and will strive to fulfil their duties. They are also meticulous and pay great attention to detail.

These traits make them highly suitable for roles in the military or politics. Likewise, they would thrive in the finance industry, or as philosophers and researchers.

... But he may be stubborn

On the flip side, they may suffer from tunnel vision because they tend to be too task-oriented. This means they could lose sight of the bigger picture and opportunities around them.

Their tendency to follow rules and regulations, as well as obsession with the finer details, can cause them to be overly cautious and conservative, especially when it comes to implementing change. It can be difficult to change their mind once they have made a decision.

Also, because of their strong sense of responsibility, they tend to put undue pressure upon themselves.

It is best that you opt for a personal consultation session with a fengshui master. After all, it is the ba zi (year, month, day and time of birth) that forms your four pillars of destiny and shapes your life path.

Go for it, especially if you’re born in the Year of the Rabbit. Chances are, you’ll have a natural affinity with your child and get along very well. Parents who fall under the zodiac signs of Tiger and Horse are compatible too.

As a highly focused and keen learner, he thrives under the traditional model of classroom education – but you should encourage your kid to participate actively in co-curriculum activities, especially in team sports, to nurture his ability to work with others. This helps equip him with the necessary life skills.

To help unlock lateral thinking in a Dog Year child, you can arrange activities that stimulate his creativity and develop his imagination, such as role-playing or helping to plan an itinerary for a family holiday.

Above all, teach him the importance of being flexible in his approach to life. Remind him: the only constant in this world is change.

Using colours such as blue, black, white and gold. These represent water and metal – elements that complement those belonging to the Dog zodiac sign.

As for room themes, that depends on his personality. Ba zi is an effective tool to help you make sense of it from an early age. A nature-based or garden theme can help calm an extroverted baby, while a racing car theme may help an introverted child develop a fighting spirit.
