There may not be a long weekend this week, but there’s no shortage of fun activities in store!
We’re in the middle of the Singapore HeritageFest, and with that comes a series of workshops and activities that are both exciting and educational. Experience what the air traffic controllers and fire-fighters at Changi Airport do, or learn more about voyagers of the past as you make your own clay boat.
Plus, there’s a beautiful new floral display at Gardens by the Bay, and this one’s all about roses.
Have you ever wondered what the air traffic controllers at the Changi Airport Control Tower do?
Get up close with the air traffic controllers who keep our skies safe, and learn more about their journeys and duties at one of the world’s busiest airports. You’ll even get to experience an exclusive day and night view from the control tower through the Aviation Academy’s specialised training simulator.
This activity is only suitable for children aged 12 and above – children under 12 will not be admitted.

In the past, traders used to voyage the great seas on their sailing ships. Learn more about voyagers of the past and imagine what it was like back then as you create your own boat out of air-dry clay.
After the workshop, you can use your clay boat to sail through the galleries of the Asian Civilisations Museum to learn more about the culture and heritage all across Asia.
This activity is suitable for children aged five and up. Children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Want to give your child a headstart in coding?
Designed for kids aged three to six, this workshop helps to develop computational thinking skills in preschool children. The workshop is for absolute beginners, so don’t worry even if your child doesn’t have any experience in the area. During the session, they’ll be introduced to algorithms, and taught how they can make algorithms for everyday activities.
Through the workshop, they will develop their creativity and critical thinking, and build up their problem-solving and innovation skills.

Gardens by the Bay has a new floral display, and this time, it’s all about roses.
Experience an idyllic Italian summer filled with roses in the new Rose Romance display, with an array of rose varieties blooming against a landscape inspired by Italy. Walk down the winding alleyways inspired by Italian towns, and enjoy the rustic feel of the countryside. There’ll even be a display of the balcony from Romeo and Juliet, the famous Shakespearean tale that takes place in the Italian town of Verona.
Just remember to bring along your camera, because you’ll want to snap lots of pictures with the beautiful roses!

If you have a budding scientist on your hands, this workshop will satisfy their curiosity and encourage them to find out more about how the world works.
They’ll learn more about the three states of matter – solid, liquid, and gas – as well as the atomic structure of each state. Suitable for kids aged four to six, the workshop includes an enriching storytelling session, and engaging activities.
Children must be accompanied by an adult for this activity.

Take a look around Chinatown, Little India, and Arab Street, and you’ll find different styles of shophouses. These shophouses were built around the late 19th century, and represent Singapore’s rich multicultural and architectural heritage.

Meet the people who keep Changi Airport safe from fires around the clock, and learn more about what they do as airport fire-fighters. Through interactive station activities and fire-fighting simulators, you’ll get to experience a day in the life of an airport fire-fighter. You’ll even get to practise target shooting with a charged water hose, and learn to save a casualty!
