Want Stress-free Family Vacays? These Child-friendly Hotels Can Help

by Sandhya Mahadevan  /   July 7, 2018

The school holidays have just passed in Singapore, but it wont be long before the next ones come by. Family holidays are a great way for bonding, sure. But a chance for a little bit of alone-time with spouse can’t hurt, especially when on a luxury holiday. Bet the children are feeling the same way too. Nowadays most hotels offer childcare and babysitting services, but these five hotels go a step further and plan out activities with not the objective of giving you time alone, but making children’s time worthwhile. Start planning!

Camping in Taiwan

No, we are not suggesting a night in the woods. Most children love camping. If yours gets googly eyed at the mention of campfires and smores, but would rather not have to deal with bugs and night sounds, then the Grand Hyatt Taipei could be an option. They have a Family Adventure package, which comes with a pop-up tent, featherbeds, plush toys, a picnic table, and a planetarium projector – have to have a starry sky for that perfect camping setting! The helpful staff will even set it up if you are not feeling very handsy. Best part is that you can still have your luxury holiday while the little ones snuggle up in the tent.

Fitness in Coastal Vietnam

A resort holiday tied to wellness. Your idea of it may include massages, but how about your children? The kids’ club at Fusion Resort Cam Ranh will keep them occupied with fun yoga classes while you luxuriate in the spa or even taken them on outdoor excursions, so hubby and you can have some “chill” time. Besides that, children can also engage in building sandcastles, learning Vietnamese, and playing ball games. The dedicated kids pool and outdoor play area complete with swings, slides, and tunnels are but a bonus!

Origami in Japan

Well, that’s a no-brainer, but learning it the right way (not from books) has its own charm. Children will stay pretty occupied at the Palace Hotel Tokyo’s origami sessions – they have them every Wednesday. Besides that, there’s plenty of mythical charm for adults and parents. As the name suggests, it has a feel of a palace, being surrounded by a moat. Expect to see swans rather than crocodiles, though. It’s also right next to the Imperial Palace, so alfresco breakfasts are guaranteed to be royally scenic. Children also get their own checkin cards, while in the room a set of pyjamas, slippers and bathrobes set out for them. They are going to want to be independent!

Breakfast in Vietnam's Capital

At Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, not only will you be revelling to luxury, your children will get the royal treatment. From their own luggage tags to gifts and Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) for bedtime reading. The biggest attraction is that they get to have a special breakfast on Sundays. The chef at Le Beaulieu restaurant dedicates a section for a kids-only buffet that your children will want to get out of bed for.

Saving the waters at Thailand

Sure enough, the kids club at Banyan Tree Samui is named Octopus Club. Here you can rest assured that your children are not only engaged in fun activities, but also learning. Be it culture through Thai cooking classes, boxing sessions or dancing lessons; or related to nature. Their conservation projects are an experience in themselves for children. They will get to collect broken corals from the hotels private bay and attach them back to fresh blocks as part of Banyan Tree’s “coral regeneration project” – and children can view the fruits of their labour when on snorkelling sessions.
