Prince Harry took Meghan Markle somewhere near and dear to his heart: Botswana. He has referred to the African nation as his “second home” where he felt the most at ease in the wake of his mother’s death.
It is not just Harry who has a special place in his heart for Africa. The continent is meaningful to both Prince Harry and his brother. Prince William and Duchess Catherine were at breathtaking Lake Rutundu in Kenya when he proposed to her.
Prince Harry reportedly wanted to do pop the question around Princess Diana’s death anniversary at the end of the month “so he can associate August with something joyful”.
If he didn’t pop the question, then he really missed the perfect timing because it was Meghan’s 36th birthday earlier this year. She is now the same age as Princess Diana was when she tragically died.
While she is alleged to have temporarily shifted into Harry’s home, a number of Kensington Palace apartments are currently undergoing renovation to prepare for Meghan’s permanent move.
Reports say the prince has been ready to pop the question for some time now. He even made her a ring with “diamonds taken from a brooch he inherited from Diana”. It will reportedly have an emerald stone in the centre.
According to sources, the royal family is pressuring him to ask Meghan to give up on her acting career if she’s going to become his wife and she is willing to do so. Earlier this year, she shut down her lifestyle website ‘The Tig’ to protect their privacy.
The couple have recently celebrated their one year anniversary, and speculation is rife that this could be the perfect time for the prince to get down on one knee and pop the question.
