You’ve already heard the news: Daiso has scrapped its ‘everything at $2’ policy and introduced multi-priced products in stores. Needless to say, I – like many other Singaporeans – was pretty shocked by this.
Daiso was where I headed for everyday essentials at a great price. So with the increase in said prices, I asked myself: are the things in the beloved Japanese store still worth it? Which would I be willing to spend $4 and above on?
I took a trip down to Daiso to answer my own questions.
While walking around Daiso, I saw many customers walk up to the staff to ask how much various products cost.
From my own enquiries, there is just one thing you need to know: if there isn’t a sticker with a price on it, then it costs $2.14. Otherwise, everything else will be labelled accordingly.
With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the things we think are still a steal at the store.
Now that Singaporeans have more freedom to travel, we will definitely need some empty bottles to bring along our beauty essentials. While Daiso does sell sets of two bottles for $2.14, this set of four features decent-sized ones at just $4.07.
It includes a spray bottle and one with a pump as well, giving you options as you decide what to pack on your trip. Bring along face mists and oil cleansers without having to worry about a thing.
Want to spruce up your home with pictures of your family and friends? These photo frames allow you to put up to three different photos to display your happy memories. With a chic wooden look that will look great in any home, we think that $4.07 for this is a steal.
If you are looking for a way to add a hint of something-different to your house, why not try these box curtains? Measuring 42cm by 88cm, you can use it to cover your oven or shape it into a nice table cloth for your coffee table. Priced at $4.07, there are an array of patterns for you to choose from.
Stop the ache with a neck pillow; a great choice if you are thinking of taking a long ride to Malaysia or a quick flight to Bangkok for a getaway.
With the highest price on the list, the neck pillow is tagged at $6.21, and proves a competitive price for the market.
Snack lovers will be glad to know that Daiso has kept the prices for edible goodies at the lowest price. However, there’s an even better deal to be found on the shelves.
We found this treasure cove where snacks were going at two for $2.14. From whistle sweets to rice crackers, there’s something for everyone who enjoys a good mid-day pick me up.
Know someone who loves a good soft toy? Or maybe you are looking for last-minute presents for your nephews and nieces. Whatever the situation, these adorable plushies are priced at $4.07 each. They are soft to the touch and there are many different designs to choose from aside from those shown above.
I took a look at Daiso’s online store as well
In case I missed anything (FOMO, am I right?), I headed onto Daiso’s online store to see what else I could find. And good thing I did; a few products that caught my eye.
With many shops implementing a $0.10 charge for plastic bags, it’s time to invest in a good ol’ reusable one to stop incurring extra costs. For Disney lovers out there, why not get these Mickey Mouse ones?
Priced at $4.07 each, they are colourful and bound to perk up any look. And if you don’t have anything to put in it, simply fold it up and put it in your bag or pocket.

Have you been looking for a simple waterproof apron that will keep your shirt free of oil stains? These may not look like much, but for $4.07, they will definitely get the job done.

Want to see if baking cakes is your thing? If you are hesitant about spending a large sum of money on a cake mould you might only use once, try this one. Priced at $4.07, it is silicone-coated so that your cakes come out great every time.
