The world as we know it is no longer the same. With the sudden onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic, most of us have been forced to change our daily routines and work virtually from home. Businesses and employees have both taken a hit, as you see from the rise and fall of many companies during this period.

Despite all the doom and gloom, there are some things you can do to tide over this period, survive and eventually thrive to come out of this stronger than before, according to feng shui master Joey Yap.

These action steps can be categorised into the 3 Es, which are:

  1. Education
  2. Experience
  3. Execution

Below, Joey breaks them down into practical tips you can follow to keep the cash flowing, especially during these financially turbulent times:

Education: Upgrade your skills

If you have inadvertently lost your job because of this pandemic, this is a great time to learn a new skill or upgrade your current skill set. Having an ultimate skill gives you an advantage compared to other employees, as most organisations value professionals that are able to do more than one core job scope. (Check out the most useful job skills to own in the post-pandemic era.)

Feng shui tip: To enhance your learning abilities, use the South-west sector of the home this year to activate this star. Ensure that you place your desk here, or use this area to learn something new to make the most of the energies present.

Experience: Have a back-up plan

As an employee, no job is safe in these trying times. It’s important to have a back-up plan should things go south in your current organisation. Consider starting a side gig to earn some extra income, and create some reserves for the future.

Understand what you’re good at to capitalise on this skill-set. For instance, if you’re adept at copywriting, consider freelancing for other companies to build your portfolio and polish your ability to sell on paper.

Feng shui tip: To get this secondary income going, use the North-west sector of the home to make your plans and execute them. Although it may be challenging at first, it’s important to make a consistent effort to get things off the ground.

Execution: Source for help

This is also a great time to start transiting from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur or business owner, if you have considered doing so. The resources required to start a business can be acquired at a lower cost than before, so make the most of this by taking action now.

Consider hiring freelancers to help you out if you lack the skills or experience to take care of certain aspects in the business.

Feng shui tips: By working in the North-east sector in 2020, you have higher chances of hiring the right people to speed up the process. Use this sector of the home for planning, thinking and writing your business plan to make the transition. Alternatively, if you need the help of mentors for guidance on how to start your business, you can also use this sector to source for these potentially helpful people.

If you prefer to invest in other people’s businesses or increase the investment opportunities that come your way, use the West sector to do some research or look for these types of opportunities. You should be able to get investment-related deals at a good price at this time as compared to when the economy was thriving.

Finally…

Remember to be clear of what you truly desire and focus on getting it done to move forward during this time. Refrain from letting the external negative circumstances affect you and focus on what you can do to truly thrive in 2020!
