8 Top Vegan Cafes & Restaurants In Singapore Even Non-Vegans Will Love

Don’t worry, going meatless and dairy-free does not mean you compromise on taste. Here are 8 delicious vegan eateries in Singapore to check out

November 1, 2018

It’s World Vegan Day (Nov 1)! The vegan movement has taken Singapore by storm, with offerings ranging from vegan fast food, drinks and ice cream to full Korean meals and even fine dining options popping up all across the island. It’s no surprise that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia listed Singapore as Asia’s second most vegan-friendly city for its “roaring vegan scene” in 2016, after Taipei.

VeganBurg
custom

If you’re a fast food fiend and you think vegan food has no appeal for you — think again. VeganBurg, Singapore’s first vegan burger and fast food joint, draws both vegans and the omnivorous with its extensive menu of juicy fat burgers, crisp fries, and a whole menu of “sidekicks” such as Shroom Pops with sambal mayo and White Truffle Fries.

Each burger is stacked and bursting with layers and feature mostly a plant-based GMO-free patty, fresh vegetables and special sauces. They are customisable with add-ones such as vegan bacon, vegan cheese, plant-based eggs, and avocado. VeganBurg’s tofu-based sausages with barbecue sauce are always a big hit with kids, and we hear that fans always go for seconds of their creamy, savoury cracked mayo dip (which are egg and dairy free!). Great for quick and delicious family vegan meals.

VeganBurg is at 44 Jalan Eunos, tel: 6844 6868. Please note that garlic is used in their food.

Brownice Italian Vegan Ice Cream & Kitchen
custom

Guilt-free ice cream that’s also dairy free and actually good for you? Yes please! Many vegans in Singapore lament the lack of fresh vegan ice cream (beyond the supermarket) and that’s where Brownice comes in. The local vegan Italian ice cream bar features vegan ice cream made from organic brown rice milk — no dairy, no eggs, no artificial chemicals, and with less than 3% fat per scoop. Flavours range from the more common Nutella and Strawberry to local inspired Gila Gula Melaka and Coconut. We tried it and found it satisfying, if not as creamy and smooth as dairy ice cream. But hey, its guilt-free! Feeling peckish? The cafe also serves a selection of vegan Italian food with its ice creams.

Green Dot
custom

Green Dot’s many outlets often see queues at meal times and we can see why. Their concept of vegetarian / vegan “bento rice”, where customers get to mix and match from a variety of dishes and pair it with brown rice, is both affordable and delicious and particularly popular with the health-conscious office crowd. Think sides like braised mushrooms, tofu, wakame seaweed, tender eggplant, mock meats, and more! Psst, their Mushroom Rendang is the bomb.
