Taiwanese actress Shu Qi shocked everyone a few days ago when it was revealed that she had wed Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung.

The couple have been in a low-key relationship for years but neither has ever confirmed that they were dating, so it’s safe to say we were blindsided by news of their last minute (to us at least) wedding in Prague in the Czech Republic.
Congratulations are in order for the newlyweds though and we wish them a happy and fruitful union. Shu and Fung actually met on the set of the romance drama “Bishonen” in 1997 and have reportedly been friends for 20 years and dating for four before tying the knot.
Now, Shu Qi and Stephen are hardly the first A-listers to keep their nuptials under wraps from the public. Here are 11 other famous couples who had hush-hush marriages away from the limelight:
Blake may be expecting Ryan’s second child this year but this whirlwind romance took everyone by surprise. Not least because of the fact that just a couple of months earlier, the Gossip Girl actress was on a yacht being romanced by none other than serial modelizer and Oscar winner Leonardo Dicaprio.
We didn’t even know these two were dating, so imagine our surprise when it was revealed that they got hitched. But the union didn’t last long and Renée filed for divorce a few months later citing ‘fraud’ as the reason for the split.
This hot Spanish couple met while filming a movie called Jamon, Jamon. Well, a few come-ons later the pair reportedly tied the knot in 2010 after keeping their romance under wraps for the better part of a decade.
Wasn’t Ian Somerhalder dating his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev? After what seemed like a hot minute, the couple called it quits and Ian hooked up Nikki Reed instead. They got married after a short four-month engagement.
Yes, we know they were a couple for the longest time but despite being dogged by marriage rumours for much of their dating life, this photogenic couple never went down the aisle. Well, all that changed last year when Ashton made an honest woman out of Mila in a secret wedding over the 4th of July weekend.
After a failed union with Brad Pitt that ended in 2005, Jen entered into a long-term relationship with Justin. After years of dating, they invited guests over for a birthday party that was really a wedding in disguise. Surprise!
Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig are one of the most private couples in Hollywood so it’s no shocker that they chose to keep their wedding hush-hush in 2011. She was previously linked to director Darren Aronofsky (of Black Swan fame) while the James Bond actor is a divorced father-of-one.
Harrison Ford and the former Ally McBeal actress dated for 8 years before deciding to tie the knot. How did it happen? Harrison reportedly surprised his sweetheart with a Valentine’s Day proposal in 2009. Awww.
Anna Hathaway used the same wedding planner who helped keep Natalie Portman’s nuptials quiet when she tied the knot with Shulman in 2012. The public only found out the couple was married when photos of their wedding emerged in the tabloids.
No one saw this marriage coming! Billy-Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie fell in love hard and fast after meeting on the set of the movie Pushing Tin and subsequently got hitched soon after. The unusual pair did crazy things for love and both even wore a vial of each other’s blood during their time as husband and wife.
