With Meghan Markle’s due date believed to have been and gone, the waiting game for Baby Sussex is getting somewhat tiresome for avid royal fans.
But as we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the big announcement from the Palace, it’s no wonder some of the finer details around the birth might start to slip through the cracks.

And the latest piece of news is one that has certainly commanded our attention: A technicality on the Palace website might have just revealed the baby’s gender and name… oops!
Dedicated fans discovered three pages on the Buckingham Palace website reserved for a ‘Prince Alexander’, a ‘Prince Arthur’, and a ‘Prince James’.
Indeed each URL (entered, for example, as www.royal.uk/prince-arthur) has been placed as a redirect link back to the main page of www.royal.uk.
Meanwhile, when using the same method on other baby names topping the ‘most likely’ list for Harry and Meghan (including those for a baby girl), a ‘page not found’ screen pops up.
Curious! Let’s take a look at what other names regardless of gender are in the running for Baby Sussex:

Back when Duchess Catherine was pregnant with Princess Charlotte, Alice was one of the front-runner names as it was the name of one of Queen Victoria’s daughters and Prince Philip’s mother. Meghan might just swoop in and pick this one up!
If Meghan and Harry are feeling a little Hollywood, they could go with Pearson, a name which takes its inspiration from the law firm Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane, works at in her former television show Suits.
If this royal couple is going down the traditional route and are expecting a boy, Arthur may be a good choice. He’ll be named after the legendary British monarch, King Arthur, who famously withdrew a sword set in stone (or so they say!)
The couple are famously known for their groundbreaking choices that have shaken up the stale old British traditions of yore. So they may go the same way again for their baby’s name. Lemon is a nod to their wedding cake flavour. They chose a Lemon Curd and Elderflower buttercream creation to nom at on their big day.
It’s been well-documented that Prince Harry is close to his grandfather, the Queen’s consort, Prince Philip. With the ailing Prince in poor health, the name Philip could be a touching tribute to their bond and a sentimental choice for Meghan and Harry.
Meghan’s estranged father Thomas Markle most certainly won’t be getting a look in when it comes to naming her baby but her beloved mother Doria might. Doria Ragland will reportedly be moving in with the couple after Megs pops so it’ll be nice to pay it forward by naming their baby after Meghan’s mum.
Some couples like to name their baby after the city they were conceived in (looking at you, Brooklyn Beckham), but Meghan and Harry could opt for naming their bub after the city where much of their secret romance played out, Toronto.
Queen Elizabeth’s childhood nickname was “Lilibet”, because she couldn’t pronounce her own name. It would be a sweet turn of events if Meghan and Harry opt for this name if they have a daughter.
During his 20s, Prince Harry was a huge fan of Facebook and even had a secret account under the pseudonym Spike Wells. We think his alter ego has given us a glimpse into Harry’s taste when it comes to boy names!
The perfect floral title for a red-headed baby, Princess Poppy just rolls off the tongue. It’s British enough of a name to warrant nods of approval from the rest of the royal family but also slightly offbeat enough to appeal to Meghan’s Californian cool sensibilities.
Baby Sussex may never be King, so naming him Kingsley could be the next best thing. See the British line of succession here to find out more about who’ll become King or Queen in the future.
