Turkey is synonymous with Christmas, and you’ll find every other restaurant serving up the bird during the holiday season. We all enjoy the traditional roast turkey, but if you have a more adventurous palate, you’ll want to check out these restaurants and hotels that have each given it their own radical spins.
Think ma la turkey to birds coated in crispy cereal, and even ones that boast piquant Korean flavours.
Each year, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium brings out interesting renditions of roast turkey and fans flock to get it. It is no exception this year. A nod to the local zi char delight, cereal prawns and chicken, the bird comes coated with cereal that’s pre-fried in a blend of chilli, butter and curry leaves.
Savour it on its own or dip it in the salted egg sauce that is packaged with the turkey. The bundle also comes with egg fried rice and fried vegetables. At $138.

One Farrer Hotel’s signature Salt-Encrusted Turkey ($148) remains well-loved but the spotlight this year is also on the new Sous Vide Mala Turkey ($138 for 4kg). Mala sauce with peanuts turn up the heat, and it’s accompanied with roasted honey-sage yam, pickled cucumbers, butter-poached Brussels sprouts, chestnuts, and a cranberry-orange sauce.

How clever Goodwood Park Hotel treats its turkeys is impressive — it’s got a slew of turkey dishes given an Asian twist for delivery or takeaway. For one, there’s the Coffee Turkey with Fried Rice ($248 nett for eight to 12 persons) that has the bird infused with a myriad of Chinese spices and roasted with a savoury coffee glaze till caramelised.
You can also sink your teeth into toothsome treats like Deep-Fried Turkey Roll in Mala Style ($32 nett for two rolls), Chilled Smoked Turkey Breast & Beancurd in Mala Sauce ($98 nett for four to six persons), and Deep-fried ‘Hong Zhao’ Turkey Breast Strips ($68 nett for four to six persons)

Turkey gets a local slant with at modern Southeast Asian restaurant Slake, which slathers the roast bird in a gula melaka brown butter gravy for a sweet-meets-savoury touch.
You can order it on its own ($128, approx 3kg), or as a Festive Roast Set (from $208), with other tempting delights like Pork Collar Roast with Vietnamese Inspired Sauce, or Grassfed Rib Eye Roast with Red Wine Shallot Gravy.

If you or the family are obsessed with Korean fare, Crowne Plaza Hotel has rolled out turkey options spiced up with Korean-inspired flavours to enjoy at home.
Tuck into the Korean-Style Roast Turkey ($168+, 6kg), that’s been brined in spiced water for 24 hours, then slathered and roasted with sweet and spicy gochujang (red chilli miso paste). It’s accompanied by a Kimbap-stuffed Turkey Breast with kimchi fried rice and seasonal greens.
Or go for the similar Korean-Style Rolled Turkey Breast(2.2kg, $98+) with kimchi fried rice stuffing, pickled baby radish, carrots and seasonal greens, and which can feed around four to six persons.

Get cracking at Cantonese fine-dining restaurant Feng Shui Inn this festive season, which is serving up turkey that nods to the classic Chinese dish, Beggar’s chicken. Break open a pastry casing to reveal smoky and tender turkey meat that’s bathed in a herbal marinade.

For rendang lovers, Orchard Hotel Singapore’s turkey ($168) is marinated for 24 hours to get all the flavours of its blend of herbs and spices in, then slow-roasted to seal in all the juiciness. It’s served with spicy peanut sauce, pineapple chutney and roasted potatoes.

Hotel Fort Canning has a tradition of dishing out birds cooked with an Asian touch, and this year is no different. On the festive takeaway menu is the Assam Pedas Turkey ($158+), which draws on the traditional sour and spicy fish stew dish. It comes with sides of lemang (glutinous rice cooked in a bamboo) and assam pedas sauce.
