Meghan has professed her love for the Italian staple many times, and it has become a staple in her diet. Her own favourite version which she’s revealed to Delish is one with a slow-cooked zucchini sauce she makes. “The sauce gets so creamy you’d swear there’s tons of butter and oil in it,” she says. “But it’s just zucchini, water and a little bouillon.”
Like Meghan, pasta is one of our faves too and we think Meghan will love this Creamy Spinach Ravioli With Almonds!
As an advocate of healthy eating, Meghan loves her salads and will always try to have one which is protein-packed. One of her favourites is the Salade Nicoise – a classic French salad with tuna, fresh anchovies, potatoes and green beans.
Try this Tuna & White Bean Salad which we are sure Meghan will enjoy.
Meghan tried the famous Thai dish for the first time at a tiny restaurant outside of Bangkok, and she revealed that it was a truly life-changing meal. “It’s got about six tables. There’s no Michelin star – it’s not fancy,” she told Delish. “I took one bite of pad thai and said, ‘Oh my god, what have I been eating all my life? This is what pad thai’s supposed to taste like?’ It shifts the way you look at meals.” Ever since, Meghan has been a fan of the dish.
Here’s one of our own favourite version of the dish – Prawn Pad Thai – and we think Meghan will approve too!
We are pleasantly surprised by this because Meghan’s food loves have been pretty healthy for the most part. But confessing her love for this indulgent snack just proves that the future royal is just like us – it’s ok to indulge in a little unhealthy treat now and then. Meghan told Cosmopolitan UK that she could “eat French fries all day”. And according to Delish, she’s said, “I love carbs – who doesn’t love a carbohydrate?”. We can’t say we disagree on that Meghan!
“If I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon and ginger in my Vitamix in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso. Play with the recipe – toss in berries or use almond milk – at the end of the day, your body will thank you for nourishing it with so much fresh goodness,” says Meghan.
Here’s our version of a healthy mix: Morning Cleanse
The superfood is one of Meghan’s go-to when she wants a healthy, no-fuss meal. She’s said to prep her lunches with quinoa and add lots of greens especially when she’s busy working. According to the Daily Mail, Meghan has even influenced Prince Harry to pick up healthier eating habits – he has reportedly cut out carbs in favour of health-boosting quinoa and kale in his meals.
If you want a quick healthy meal too, try our Quinoa Salad With Broccoli & Orange.
Meghan is well-known to have a food obsession with tacos. “Being from Los Angeles, I was conditioned to like Baja-style food from the womb,” Markle told Today. She loves making her favourite fish tacos at home: “Grill some peppers and onions and a couple filets of fish (a flaky white fish works best). Season everything with salt and pepper, a little lime and stuff it all inside of a warm corn tortilla. Few bites of food make me happier than that.”
Here’s a tacos recipe which we love: Chicken & Corn Soft Tacos – try replacing the chicken with a white fish of your choice.
One of Meghan’s favourite foods is a “perfectly roasted chicken”, according to an interview with Good Housekeeping. There’s also the famous story of Meghan and Prince Harry having a “cozy night in” at home while roasting a chicken when Prince Harry got down on one knee to propose. How romantic and memorable is that?
You too can cozy up with your loved one with our Roast Spring Chicken.
“I have always loved watermelon and relish any opportunity to eat it, whether plain or diced up with feta and mint and tossed with a little olive oil,” Meghan revealed to Today. One of her favourite preparations involves sprinkling cinnamon over the watermelon to elevate the flavour.
Meghan indulges in tipple now and then when she’s relaxing. Her favourite is Tignanello, an acclaimed Tuscan wine. “Tignanello is a full-bodied red wine that I tried about seven years ago,” Meghan told People. “In wine circles, it is nicknamed ‘Tig.’ It was my first moment of getting it – I finally understood what people meant by the body, structure, finish, legs of wine. The TIG is my nickname for me getting it. Not just wine, but everything.”
