The Coconut Club

After closing the doors to its original location at Ann Siang Hill, The Coconut Club has found a new home on Beach Road.

Its crowd-favourite nasi lemak sets remain on the menu, but you’ll also be digging into new communal sharing plates like the Iga Bakar ($45++), a charcoal-grilled twice-cooked Australian beef short rib served with a secret sauce, freshly pounded sambal hijau and sambal balado, as well as the Ketam Masak Lemak Cili Api ($108++), a decadent crab curry made with a spicy turmeric coconut milk (available by pre-order only).

There’s also Charcoal Grilled Kaya Toast ($6.80++), Otah Katsu Sando ($7.80++) and a Hae Bee Hiam Tuna Sandwich ($10.80++) if you swing by for breakfast or tea.

The Coconut Club is at 269 Beach Road, Singapore. Visit its website for more information.

Tourterelle Cafe
custom

Be whisked away to Paris with this quaint space along Kandahar Street, with the cosy interiors decked in rustic brick and distressed walls lined with quirky art pieces.

Billing itself a French-Vietnamese cafe, its menu boasts items inspired by the two destinations. Think a Duck Crof’wich ($10) starring sous vide duck between a croissant waffle sandwich, a deconstructed bahn mi presented as a charcuterie board ($25++), and Spicy Beef Bourguignon ($25++).

Caffeine lovers will want to check out the beverage list – the cafe’s specialty is in coffee concoctions crafted with beans sourced from Vietnam. Sip on the likes of Egg or Coconut Coffee ($8 each), Dalgona Latte ($8++), and boozy options like the Espressotini ($16++).

Birds of Paradise

Fans of Bird of Paradise’s botanical-inspired gelato no longer need to flock to Jewel or Katong or Craig Road. The ice cream store has opened a new outlet at Bugis.

Nestled within a conservation shophouse, the minimalist dusty pink interiors are perfect for that IG-worthy gelato snap. Its top-sellers include the delicately perfume White Chrysanthemum, dark and velvety Midnight Gianduja, and the floral and fruity Lychee Rose. Osmanthus Pear Sorbet From $5 for a single scoop.

Birds of Paradise is at 263 Beach Road.

For another gelato option, there’s Gelatology Lab, a cafe serving up artisanal gelato and coffee in a photogenic pastel pink space.

The Jasmine Soy Kinako, Milky Oolong and the signature Sicilian Pistachio are popular choices, alongside flavours like Blue Pea Jasmine, and Earl Grey Lavender. Have yours in a cup, but you’ll want to give the tea-infused cones a whirl. Prices start from $5 for a single scoop.

The best part – it’s open daily from 12pm  to midnight, and till 1am on Friday and Saturday. Perfect for a late-night sugar fix.

Gelatology Lab is at 2 Tan Quee Lan Street, #01-01, Singapore 188091.

Japanese-style cafe Hvala unveiled its first takeaway joint a few months ago, located at Beach Road.

You’ll find its usual signatures like matcha, tea lattes, and cold brews, but there are also outlet-exclusive ice blends such as Tea Azuki and fruity ice blends. Most recently, it’s launched a yummy butter brioche that sandwiches Japanese red bean with butter, and a choice of matcha°1 or oatmilk gelato, available at all its outlets.

Two Bake Boys
custom

Formerly an online bakery, Two Bake Boys has launched a cafe nestled within Rest Bugis Hotel. Helmed by a husband-and-wife-duo who named the cafe for their two sons, they specialised in crepe cakes.

Now, they’ve expanded the menu with brunch items with a twist, like Chilli Crab Scrambled Eggs ($18++) with Croissant and Truffle Green Curry Spaghetti ($16++). Or beat the heat with their array of gelato, along with a choice of waffles, or croffles. Then of course, there’s their signture crepe cake available in 18 flavours.

Two Bake Boys is at 8 Jalan Kubor, #01-05, Singapore 199207.
