New York burger chain Shake Shack unveils the fourth outlet at Suntec City Mall. The fine-casual roomy space will open on September 30 — hot on the heels of its third store that opened in July at Liat Towers. Currently, the restaurant has a total of 170 seats, and with social distancing, only 130 seats are available.

The Suntec City outlet will also debut the award-winning, limited edition ShackMeister menu, which is exclusively available at the Suntec City store until October 5. After which, the ShakeMeister menu will be available across all four Shake Shack outlets only till November 16.
The ShackMeister menu features the ShackMeister Burger ($10.90 for single, $14.40 for double), ShackMeister Dog ($6.50), ShakeMeister Fries ($5.90). There’s also a dessert, Matcha Made in Heaven, exclusive to the Shake Shack Suntec City outlet.
The ShackMeister burger was first introduced in 2014 after many fans of the restaurant requested that it start serving onion rings. Instead of adding onion rings to the menu, the burger innovators at Shack Shake created the ShackMeister burger. It features Angus beef, crispy shallots and the restaurant’s exclusive dressing, ShackSauce.
The star of this burger is the shallots. While these shallots may appear like the ones you see in Chinese cooking, they taste quite different. In fact, Shake Shack’s thinly-sliced shallots taste like onion rings. These shallots are marinated in ShackMeister ale and tossed in the same coating of flour, cayenne and paprika as its chicken burger (Chick’n Shack) before they are crisp-fried.
Our Verdict: At first sight, the ShackMeister burger didn’t look like much. You’re basically adding some fried shallots to an existing burger recipe. However, we changed our minds after the first bite. The ShackMeister Burger is a must-try! The combination of its pillowy brioche, melted cheddar, beef patty, ShackSauce and crispy marinated shallots offers just the right balance of flavours in each bite. We love how the taste of the smoky patty goes perfectly with the sweet-bitter flavour of the shallots.
This fan-favourite burger went on to win the “Judge’s Choice for Best Burger” prize at the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash in 2015. It was later available for a limited time at Shake Shack’s US outlets.
The ShackMeister Dog ($6.50) features the same fried shallots and ShakeSauce on its all-beef hotdog. This is tasty but a tad too salty for our liking. We definitely preferred the burger.
Fun Fact: To suit the Singaporean palate, the sodium level of foods offered at Shake Shack Singapore is 30 per cent lower than what you would get in the United States.
On its own, the crunchy crinkle fries are already delicious. Adding melted cheese creates a “jelak” sensation that is wonderfully balanced by the tasty, bittersweet fried shallots. We recommend that you get these fries to share, and always eat them fresh.
Bring them home and what you would end up with is a lump of yucky, cold cheese fries. Even the shallots would have lost their lustre and crunch.
Exclusive to this Suntec City outlet, the Matcha Made in Heaven is a creamy frozen custard comes blended with freeze-dried strawberries, strawberry yuzu jam and shortbread chunks, and then dusted with a generous sprinkle of matcha powder.
The combination of tangy-sweet strawberries, sweet cream and slight bitterness of the matcha is surprisingly good. This dessert is light enough to eat after a meal of burger and fries. It is also not too sweet. Someone who opts for zero to 30 per cent of sugar in bubble tea orders would find the sweetness level of this Shake Concrete just right. Yums.
