Nothing drums up our excitement like a food village and that’s exactly what you can look forward to this August, as part of the annual Singapore Food Festival (SFF), which is back for its 29th edition. It will run from Aug 24 to Sep 11, 2022.
Themed “Real Foodies Only”, you can look forward to an exciting slate of activities that include the Festival Village with an array of stalls, special menus at participating restaurants, workshops, and a virtual marketplace as well as master classes.
Over at the Bayfront Event Space, there’ll be an in-person Festival Village where you can tick off food stops at over 25 food stalls serving inventive takes on familiar favourites. This will be held from Aug 31 to Sep 11, 2022.
Drool-worthy eats you can expect including Jelebu Dry Laksa’s signature dish topped with Boston lobster and tiger prawns. Plant-based food truck The Goodburger will also be teaming up with Blue Lotus Eating House on a plant-based Golden Chilli Crab Burger
And if you have yet to check out the newly-minted Michelin Bib Gourmand stall One Prawn & Co, it’s teaming up with heritage brand Hock Lian Huat to present a thick, silky prawn bisque with seafood as well as a ngoh hiang platter.
Or sit down to a special nine-course dinner created by top culinary masters (featured in SFF 2022’s virtual masterclasses) over at the Chef Arena, located within Festival Village. Priced from $128 on weekends (inclusive of entry fee), the dinner will come with a Martell Noblige cocktail created by No Sleep Club’s head bartender Juan Yi Jun.
Want to get hands-on? There’s a slew of workshops you can sign up for — learn the art of mixing spices from traditional spice stall Jeya Spices or learn how to whip up delish meals using a Thermomix from cookbook author Annie Xavier as well as home bakers.
There will also be a marketplace showcasing a curated selection of merchandise and an entertainment stage presented by Tiger Beer.
Tickets are priced at $15 per person (with a $10 credit) from Mon to Fri, and $20 per person (with a $12 credit) on Sat & Sun. Visit Singapore Food Festival’s website for tickets and more information.
Outside of the Festival Village, you can also dig into exclusive dishes at an array of partner restaurants.
Two Men Bagel House, for instance, has dreamt up a Curry Nation bagelwich inspired by Chinese, Indian and Malay curries, while Italian-inspired restaurant and bar Dopo Teatro is serving up a sambal goreng pizza. Deli veteran Steeple’s Deli will also join hands with Park Bench Deli for a one-day pop-up at Steeple’s Deli.
And for die-hard durian fans, don’t forget to check out the D24 Durian Croissant by Tanglin Cookhouse.
Learn more about food with the various tours and workshops happening around the island during the festival period. Hop on urban and fish farm tours, sign up for a plant-based cheese and gin pairing workshop by Nut Culture and Brass Lion Distillery, or fill your bellies with local delights on a local street food and nightlife tour.
Oh! Stories will also be presenting an immersive theatrical workshop where you can learn to make comfort foods of the sixties while being regaled with stories by grandpas and grandmas
There will be other fringe events held as part of the Singapore Food Festival, including the Singapore Vegan Festival (SVF). This runs from Aug 27 to Sept 11, and kicks off with a vegan market and food village at Raffles City Convention Centre. There’s also the Feed 9 Billion Singapore Restaurant Week, and both events will showcase sustainable, healthy food options and creative innovations.
Coffee lovers can look forward to three immersive workshops (such as making cold brew coffee using locally roasted beans) jointly held by SFF and Airbnb Experiences, and One-Michelin star restaurant Burnt Ends will also be throwing a party, gathering restaurants within the enclave to serve good food and groovy tunes.

If you prefer to hop on a culinary adventure from the comfort of your home, there are free-to-view virtual masterclasses available, so you can cook along with some of Asia’s top chefs.
These include four-hand collabs between Asia’s Best Pastry Chef 2022 Maira Yeo from the two-Michelin star Cloudstreet and chef Justin Lee of JL Dessert Bar in Seoul, as well as chef Will Goldfarb of Room4Dessert in Bali and chef Genevieve Lee of Sourbombe Bakery.
Food kits can be ordered via SFF’s virtual marketplace, to be delivered prior to the sessions.
