Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new restaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
To check out this week: Resort World Sentosa’s afternoon tea experience in the ‘deep sea’, Open Farm Community’s new menu that draws on the kampung spirit, Danish confectionery brand Leckerbaer’s new Keong Saik flagship, and more.
A nod to the convivial and communal way of kampong dining, Open Farm Community has rolled out Farm Feast, a four-course family-style tasting menu that woos diners with sharing plates of snacks, starters, house-made accompaniments, and mains. And yes, you can expect ingredients right from its on-site garden.
If you thought cauliflower was blah, the battered Cauliflower Wings will change your mind. Dressed in tamarind miso and sesame seeds, it’s as addictive as any crispy wings you can find. It comes accompanied by fresh greens, corn chips, and a tasty chai poh dip with crunchy bits of preserved radish. For mains, there’s the Grassfed NZ Short Ribs, which delivers fork-tender beef, though some may the Mexican mole sauce it’s dressed in a tad spicy. But if you’re after a vegetarian option, the Braised Local Eggplant stuffed with jackfruit and covered with umami black bean sauce gets our thumbs up.
Other options include barramundi with smoked mussel cream, as well as a Kin Yan Mushroom Ravioli. And if you need a glass of vino to accompany your meal, wine pairing — with natural wines curated by sister company The Drunken Farmer — is available.
The Farm Feast menu is available at $88 per person (minimum of two diners). Wine pairing is available at an additional $40++. Open Farm Community is at 130E Minden Road, Singapore 248819. Visit its website for more information.

Best known for its småkagers or Danish butter cookies, Danish confectionery brand Leckerbaer has opened the doors to a new flagship nestled in the Keong Saik enclave. It opened its first store on our shores last year, on level one of Shaw House.
The new flagship store offers a dose of cosy Scandi charm with wood furnishings and rattan walls. And on the menu, you can look forward to open-faced sourdough sandwiches that nod to Scandinavian flavours, from Smoked Salmon and Onsen Egg ($21) to the Jonah Crab & Avocado Salsa ($20).
End your meal on a sweet note with its assortment of signature småkagers; to ring in the holiday season, it’s unveiled eight festive småkagers including a spiced cake-inspired confection with tangy calamansi and blackcurrant and a hazelnut cinnamon cake piped with lemon meringue. Two festive Christmas sets ($34++ each) are available, too.
Leckerbaer Singapore’s flagship store is at 14 Keong Saik Rd., Singapore 089121. Visit its website for more information.
Dining at the just-opened Sushi Sato, the first namesake restaurant by master chef Yuji Sato, promises to be a calming and elegant affair. In fact, you’ll be greeted by a tranquil Zen garden upon arrival, which gives way to minimalist blond wood accents, and abstract botanical elements indoors.
The focus here is on premium and exclusive ingredients, sourced from the most sought-after suppliers in Japan, with food prepped and served in the same room so nothing loses its texture or qualities.
Dinner menu highlights include delicately poached ankimo (monkfish liver), and hand-chopped toro-taku roll, often the highlight finale of his dinner meals. And for dinners on Tuesdays and Friday, look out for the chef’s signature ika somen, with fresh squid expertly cut into noodle-like strands.
Lunch comprises the Uruoi course ($150++) , Utsukushi course ($220++) , and Tomi course ($300++). Dinner comprises the choice of Omakase ($380++) and Kokoro ($480++), which includes his signature dishes. Sushi Sato is at 6B Dempsey Road, Singapore 247662. Visit its website for more information.
