Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new restaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
The latest in dining now: Tiong Bahru Bakery’s giving out free croissants with a beverage purchased come April 1, Ben & Jerry’s free cone day is here, 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung’s extravagant Tropical Sunday brunch, and more.
We’re screaming for ice cream because Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day is back. It’s making its return on April 3, 2023 at its Scoop Shop in Vivo City, from 12pm to 8pm.
Look forward to diving into a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s classic flavours like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (which the brand invented over three decades ago) as well as local favourites like Chocolate Therapy, and Vanilla. Non-dairy flavours will also be on offer. Fans can also try the new and limited edition flavour, Topped Dirt Cake, which was introduced in December last year.
That’s not all. To celebrate the occasion, the ice cream brand has on-ground activities in the line-up, too. Test your knowledge of Ben & Jerry’s facts or try spotting Woody the cow at unexpected places to get the chance to win exciting prizes.
Free Cone Day will take place at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop in Vivo City, 1 Harbour Front Walk, #02-K1 on Monday, 3 April from 12pm to 8pm.
It might be April Fool’s Day but Tiong Bahru sure isn’t clowning around with its promo happening on April 1, 2023.
Purchase any hot and cold coffee or tea beverage on April 1, 2023, between 10am to 6pm across all outlets, and enjoy seven of its flaky buttery croissants on the house.
The terms and conditions: Each customer can only redeem up to two croissants a day at each outlet with the beverage purchase (excluding bottled drinks). The remaining croissants can be redeemed on subsequent visits (no additional beverage purchase required). Redemption of the complimentary seven croissants ends on April 30, 2023.
A stamp card will be given and would need to be presented to the counters for redemption.
Visit Tiong Bahru Bakery’s Instagram page or website for more information.
If boozy Sunday brunches are your sort of thing, 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung has a Tropical Brunch affair you’ll want to hit up — and with a hungry belly too, because you can expect a lavish parade of mouthwatering options.
To start, there’s an array of various premium cheeses and artisanal cuts (think Beef Bresaola, Mortadella Bologna Pistachio and Jamon Iberico D Bellota), and seafood on ice. Make your way through piles of snow crab, tiger prawns, blue mussels and seasonal oysters. And for sashimi, you get the choice of premium tuna akami, Hiramasa kingfish, and Norwegian salmon. Pace yourself here, though, because the hot dishes are the stars, in our opinion.
At the carving station, the tender and juicy Wagyu Beef Hanging Tender and Angus Beef Ribeye aren’t to be missed. There are also hearty sausages, spit-roasted Red Snapper, crisp Pork Belly Char Siew and Pasture Fed Lamb Leg.
If you’re embracing carbs, head right to the Pasta & Noodles section, where you can customise your pasta dish and have it cooked a la minute. We went for fettuccine in an Asian aglio olio sauce that’s garlicky with a mild spicy kick (you can go for the likes of basil pesto, black truffle cream and curry cream). 15 Stamford’s Signature Laksa is also available. The spread continues with an array of Chinese dishes (there’s even pen cai), as well as Indian fare like chicken koma and a spicy flavourful mutton curry.
As cliche as it sounds, you’ll truly want to leave room for dessert. Check out the glorious dessert table chock full of beautifully crafted treats from cakes to financiers, tarts, glazed donuts and Peranakan kuih.
Apart from free-flow Telut Reserve Brut champagne, you can also order tiki-themed cocktails like the invigorating Jungle Bird, with Bacardi Anejo Cuatro, pineapple juice, lime juice, and Campari or the Fog Cutter, a vintage tiki cocktail comprising Bacardi Anejo Cuatro 4-Year Old Rum, Bombay Sapphire Gin, orange juice, sherry, lemon, and almonds.
Priced from $188++ with free-flowing cocktails, wines, beer, and Telmont Reserve Brut Champagne Brut; $218++ for Telmont Rose Champagne; $248++ for a Billecart Rose; or $268++ for Billecart Blanc de Blancs.

If you enjoy Tablescape’s elegant afternoon tea sets, here’s another reason to swing by for a visit. The restaurant has refreshed its menu, with scrumptious new sweets and savouries.
For savoury options, dive into the likes of mini tortilla rolls of housemade chicken salad and tomato coulis, and a pillowy foie gras mousse brioche paired unusually with kaya — this goes surprisingly well and helps balance the gaminess of the foie gras. The tea-smoked salmon sandwich also gets an umami upgrade with a dash of furikake.
Sweets-wise, Tablescape’s rosemary apple tart remains on the menu. But you can also discover treats like Eclair Mango Custard with a bright housemade mango custard and a luscious rum chocolate cake. There’s also an adorable ‘flower pot’ crafted out of 55% cacao chocolate and filled with cream cheese and red velvet sponge cake.
Available for dine-in ($78++), delivery and takeaway ($78 nett). Tablescape is at Level 3 Grand Park City Hall, 10 Coleman St, Singapore 179809. Visit its website to order or more information.
