Avid watchers of Channel 8 would know Li Nanxing, who has been dubbed as the best-known male actor in Singapore. Some of us might even remember him for his role in The Unbeatable series and The Magnate! As prolific his acting is, that’s not the only thing Li Nanxing is good at, and he certainly does not forget his roots – the veteran actor is proud to present his Abalone Fish Head Claypot, which is just as extravagant as it sounds.
Drawn from Ah Ge’s childhood growing up in a Kelong (or floating fish farm), this is one of his favourite dishes as it boasts the richness and abundance of the ocean, all in a single pot. Stun Dad with the abalone, fish and other luxurious ingredients in this signature dish adored by many!
While many variations of braised meats have come to exist over the passing of generations and intertwining of cultures, you can trust UFM 100.3’s Luo Kemin to deliver one that will tug at nostalgia. The DJ lauded by many for the warmth in her voice will be skillfully making her fork-tender Braised Pork that will leave the same feeling in your belly, all with the pleasing goodness of flavourful braising sauce that goes well with everything. If you’re not after a meal made by your own family, this comes a close second thanks to Kemin’s family’s well-kept recipe.
The young model-actor who has roles in Channel 8 dramas like The Good Fight may just be 24, but his specialty has stuck to him since the age of 15, and is the first dish he ever prepared for his father. Needless to say, Wei Le’s Homemade Chicken Meatballs have matured over the years (nearly a decade!), but its significance still stays as a tribute to his Dad, on top of its juicy and chewy texture. True enough, no ready-made meatball can match up to one that’s homemade and handmade.
We’re all familiar with watching our mothers cook when we were younger, only to eventually learn the same comforting recipes loved by the family. This is no different for a star like Jian Ruyi, who picked up making these delicious Handmade Fried Dumplings. First made for his Dad’s hangry cravings and now passed on to Ruyi himself, you can now have a taste of this delightful, crispy and bite-sized dumpling along with your Dad for Father’s Day!
Having travelled to South Korea to audition, host and even to places like New York to further her acting skills, it’s hard to fathom how Julie has time for cooking outside of acting for local productions. But here it is anyway, her very own, original creation – a steaming and sizzling Chicken and Seafood Claypot Rice loaded full of umami. The smoky aroma, accompanied by tender chicken meat and an assortment of seafood, will leave you wanting more – and we encourage you to go on because what’s enjoying a claypot without getting the charred bits? The only problem is who would get more of it between your family members – Dad has the dibs, of course.
Nothing sets the table like a plate full of large, fresh and juicy prawns. The multi-hyphenate who recently welcomed a baby girl in 2017 is taking Father’s Day to help you make these Fresh Steamed Prawns, combined with lashings of fragrant garlic as well as a medley of spices and seasonings. With that said, we can assure that you wouldn’t mind getting your hands dirty, especially with a burst of flavour with each bite!
