Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new restaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
Get your tummies ready for these delectable offerings: A Moroccan-themed fiesta at SO/ Singapore, Swatow’s sumptuous afternoon tea dim sum buffet, a new pizza concept, and more.
The folks behind Bar Cicheti and Caffe Cicheti have rolled out their first pizza-focused concept: Wild Child Pizzette. The group’s fourth concept, it’s set in a minimalist Japanese-style space, with quirky wall art — inspired by 80s pop art icon Keith Haring — that’s drummed up by local art collective Ripple Root.
Pizzette refers to smaller-sized pizzas, and the ones here are about 10 inches across. Take your pick from pies like Cavolo Nero ($18.50), a kale pizza, Spianata Calabrese ($19) with spicy salami and sichuan chilli honey, as well as a cheesy Trio Formaggio ($19). There’s even a Crispy Fried Margherita ($21) with fried pizza dough, stracciatella and aged parmigiana.
The dough is slow-fermented in two stages and for at least 60 hours before going in a wood-fired oven to yield a crisp, crackling and yet chewy crust. There are also various sides to accompany your pie, and you can wash it all down with its selection of wines, beers and sake.
Wild Child Pizzette is located at 50 Circular Road. For reservations or to place an order, visit its website.
Dim sun fanatics, Swatow’s afternoon tea dim buffet has made a welcomed return, where you can line your tummies with over 40 all-time favourites as well as a range of new items.
There are the usual suspects of Siew Mai with Fish Roe, Chives and Prawns Dumplings, as well as the signature Teochew Steamed Crystal Dumplings. But if you’re looking forward to new bites, order the Black Truffle Prawn Dumpling, Old Day’s Ma Lai Gao, and Ah Gong Carrot Cake Bowl.
Love your fried dim sum? Don’t miss yummy morsels like Fried Prawn Paste Stuffed Sugar Cane, Deep Fried Xiao Long Bao, and Deep-Fried Snow Gyoza. And for the little ones, there’s a Kids’ Dimsum Section too, with colourful, adorable options like Purple Potatoes Cream Toast, Golden Salted Egg Lava Toast, and Piggy Bun.
The Afternoon Tea Dim Sum Buffet is priced at $25.80++per adult and $16.80++per child on weekdays, and $28.80++per adult and $19.80++per child on weekends. Available daily at the Toa Payoh outlet, and on weekends and public holidays at the SerangoonGardens and Bukit Batok Home TeamNS outlets. Visit its website for more information.
The latest addition to MacDonald’s menu: The McPepper, which is described to come with two tender beef patties coated with sweet, spicy black pepper sauce and topped with diced onions all between caramelised buns.

And here’s another piece of good news. The popular Scrambled Egg Burger has made a celebrated return — think fluffy, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and a touch of mayo. It comes in two versions: Scrambled Egg Burger with Chicken and Scrambled Egg Burger with Sausage.
Enjoy them a la carte (from $4.10) or as a meal with Hashbrown and a hot McCafé Premium Roast Coffee.
