What to chow down on: Greenwood Fish Market’s World Oyster Festival, The Hainan Story’s new cafe at Jewel Changi, PS Cafe at Katong, and more.
Now in its 10th year, Greenwood Fish Market’s celebrated World Oyster Festival is back from July 1 to 31, 2022. And you can expect a record 29 oyster varietals from seven countries to be flown in.
New on the menu this year: NZ Rock oysters with a crisp watermelon finish, massive Kys Super Specials No 1. from France, as well as Misty Point, Dam Wild, and Belle Du Jour oysters from the US.
You can order them a la carte, or if you can’t decide, get the Oyster Tasting Platter ($109.95), from which you can slurp up eight pairs of oysters of the chef’s selection. Some of our favourites are Japan’s Sakoshi oysters which are silky and creamy with a refreshing cucumber finish, as well as Kumamotos from the USA.
Available for dine-in, takeway or online delivery. Visit Greenwood Fish Market’s website for more information.
After an extensive renovation, I12 Katong has reopened with a slew of new restaurants, one of which is PS. Cafe. Located near the entrance, the 134-seater space is decked in elegant furnishings and marble flooring that harken to magnificent seaside villas that once occupied East Coast Road. There’s also an outdoor terrace that’s also pet-friendly, too.
The menu remains largely the same, with favourites like the loaded PS. Big Breakfast ($27++), the Superfood Salad ($27++), Crab Tart ($32++) and PS. Burger ($30++), as well as Truffle Shoestring Fries ($17++).
New and exclusive to the outlet is the Bali Beef Cheek Rendang Rice Bowl ($29++), which nods to Katong’s heritage with tender beef cheek in aromatic rendang, shallot-scented rice, wing bean salad, and tempeh. We also enjoyed the luscious Original Laksa Leaf Pesto ($26++) with spaghettini that’s fragrant without being overly spicy.
Its signature desserts like the Double Chocolate Blackout Cake ($18++) and the iconic Sticky Date Pudding ($15) are available, but also give the new PS. Katong Chendol Panna Cotta ($15++) a go.
PS.Cafe Katong is located at 112 East Coast Road, I12 Katong, #01-01/02/03, Singapore 428802.
