Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new restaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
This week, savour Mao Shan Wang durian delights at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, check out the hearty and wholesome dishes at Carrotsticks & Cravings’ new CBD location, get snap-happy at the floral-themed Knock Knock Cafe, and more.
If you’re in the CBD and looking for a healthier meal option, make your way to Carrotsticks & Cravings’ third and newest outlet on Stanley Street. The inviting coastal-style interiors draw inspiration from tropical beach clubs, boasting pastel hues, botanical prints, and rattan fixtures.
Made with wholesome and meticulously sourced ingredients, menu items can even be customised for those on a vegetarian, vegan, or even paleo diet.
The only outlet-exclusive dish is the Stanley Breakfast for 2 ($46). The platter is sure to fill your tummies with the likes of a refreshing Israeli salad, hummus topped with roasted eggplant, a choice of salmon or chicken ham, tasty falafel patties and addictive baked puff pastries stuffed with dill and cream cheese. Each order also gets you a sourdough bread basket, two eggs, and two cups of coffee.
Another favourite is the Dukkah Salmon ($28), starring honey-marinated fish that’s firm but moist and tender with a hint of sweetness. It goes swimmingly with the aromatic dukkah, too. Other menu items include sandwiches like the creamy Signature Smashed Avo ($18), as well as a spicy and flavoursome Red Shakshouka ($18). Craving something sweet? End your meal with the chocolatey housemade Keto Bomb ($3), the Peanut Butter Slice ($6) or Gluten-free Chocolate Cake ($9).
Carrotsticks & Cravings is at 5 Stanley Street, #01-01, Singapore 068724. Visit its website for more information.

Knock Knock Cafe, a new floral-themed cafe has opened in Kallang, characterised by picturesque flower walls, and Asian-inspired fusion fare.
What to nosh on? The Just Like Grandma’s ‘Hae Bee Hiam’ Aglio Olio with Tiger Prawns ($17) for one, which is a flavour bomb with pasta strands coated in fiery but umami spicy dried shrimp paste. Other plates worth mentioning include the tacos; there are the Chilli Krab Tacos ($15 for two) with deep-fried soft shell crab in a homemade chilli sauce that dishes enough kick, as well as the Golden Prawn Tacos ($13 for two) that has the crustacean smothered in a tasty savoury salted egg yolk sauce.
The Mad for Mentaiko Fish & Chips ($16) boasts tender batang fish that’s nicely battered with a light Kronenborg beer and fried. It shines on its own without the mentaiko, which we would have preferred to have on the side.
Drinks-wise, don’t miss out on the snap-worthy Bear Lattes ($6.50) that come with adorable bear-shaped coffee ice cubes. Limited to 30 servings a day, on a first-come-first serve basis.
From 1 to 30 September, enjoy 1-for-1 pasta all day. The promotion is valid for both dine-in and takeaway. Terms and conditions apply. Knock Knock Cafe is at 101 Geylang Road, Singapore 389211.

It’s been a year since New York-born lobster roll chain Luke’s Lobster opened to much fanfare at Shaw Centre last year. And the brand is now celebrating its first anniversary on our shores with a third outpost (the second is at Jewel Changi Airport) that has opened its doors at Great World.
Alongside the new opening, the lobster specialist has also rolled out a new ‘Luke Goes Local’ series, a three-part local chef collaboration with celebrated chefs from Thevar, Birds of a Feather, and Fatfuku, who will each create an exclusive iteration of signature Lobster Roll.
A Curry Aioli Lobster Roll ($30.50) from Thevar will kick off the series this month, while Sichuan resto Birds of a Feather will unveil a Sichuan Mala Roll ($30.50) in mid-October. Following that, Chef Annette Tan of FatFuku will add a Peranakan twist to her iteration in mid-November.
Available at all Luke’s Lobster outlets. Visit its website for addresses and more information.
