Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new restaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
What to chow down on this week: A new yakiniku spot at Serangoon Gardens, Shake Shack’s new burger, a new plant-based menu at Little Farms Cafe and more.
Waa Cow!, best known for its flame-torched wagyu beef bowls, has introduced a new yakiniku concept at MyVillage at Serangoon Gardens.
Here, it treats its diners to selection beef cuts, such as karubi (from$6.90 for 100g), oyster blade (from $13.90 for 100g), striploin, and ox tongue (from $18.90 for 100g), as well as various pork and chicken options. Artisanal house-made dipping sauces, from garlic butter teriyaki to ponzu negi, spicy miso with leek, and sweet sukiyaki with egg, are available to amp up your meal. And if you need a little more carb-based sustenance, the restaurant also has subtly-flavoured truffle rice to complement the meats. There are also sharing platters of sashimi alongside chawanmushi and miso soup.
The cobalt blue interiors are enlivened with a vivid mural that depicts the growth of the brand. Look closely, because there’s a promo code hidden within the mural, which you can key in during your order to redeem a complimentary Signature All Dips Platter. Hint: it has five characters and the last is “!”.
Waa Cow! Yakiniku is at #02-10/11 Myvillage, 1 Maju Avenue, Singapore 556679.
Shake Shack is paying homage to its New York roots with the N.Y. Steakhouse Burger and N.Y. Steakhouse Fries, available for a limited time only from now till Oct 31, 2022.
The N.Y. Steakhouse Burger ($12.20 for single and $15.90 for double) promises classic steakhouse flavours, and you’ll be sinking your teeth into a white cheddar cheeseburger topped with sauteed portobello mushrooms and crispy onions. Horseradish peppercorn mayo brings extra zing to the stack.
Enjoy your burger with the N.Y. Steakhouse Fries ($6.90), brightened with horseradish peppercorn mayo, bacon, and fresh scallions. To go with your meal, you can also sip on your choice of Shack wine — a crisp Shack White Sauvignon Blanc or earthy Shack Red Pinot Noir — or a pint of ShackMeister Ale, created exclusively for Shake Shack by New York’s Brooklyn Brewery.

Bedrock Bar And Grill’s 2022 World Meat Series, a quarterly showcase of premium and lesser-known meats, is back. For its third edition, the restaurant is showcasing Okan Wagyu by Pardoo Beef, which sees F4 purebred wagyu from cattle raised in a man-made oasis in the desert-like Pilbara region of Western Australia — it’s prized for its clean buttery flavour and high marbling.
The five-course dinner menu kickstarts with the Smoked Beef Tartare on Bone Marrow plated on a quirky bone-shaped vessel. Smoked with applewood and lightly seared for a bit of bite, the hand-chopped tartare is served atop rich bone marrow that’s best slathered on the accompanying woodfire-grilled sourdough bread.
Moving on, the Soy-Marinated Wagyu Roast Beef Carpaccio features thinly sliced and slow-cooked wagyu beef knuckle. The marbling’s evident, but interestingly, the texture is more reminscent of a lean cut. It’s crowned with a zesty king crab celeriac remoulade and crispy parsnip strips, though we found the distinct celeriac flavour overwhelms the beef.
Then there’s the Black Truffle Potato and Beef Rissoles, which houses a hearty, comforting mix of cubed Yakon Gold potato and soft wagyu mince within a crisp panko exterior. The jammy applewood-smoked egg yolk on top is a treat, and a dollop of black truffle paste brings an earthy aroma to the dish.
The main’s an elevated take on the surf and turf, with a tender brown butter poached wild caught lobster tail served atop a beautifully marbled Twice-Cooked Wagyu MB7 Boneless Chuck Rib. A porcini mushroom emulsion and pieces of robust black garlic impart a deep umami hit. There’s no going wrong with an indulgent chocolate dessert, and the Chocolate Cremeux crafted with 65 per cent Valrhona chocolate and drizzled with a hazelnut praline sauce is a lovely way to end dinner.
For one night only on Sep 6, 2022 at 7 pm, the Okan Wagyu X Bodegas Montecillo Wine Dinner is priced at $148++ per person, with a complimentary five-wine pairing. From Sep 7 to Nov 30, 2022, top up $88++ per person for a four-wine pairing to go with the five-course dinner menu.
Bedrock Bar & Grill is at #01-05 Pan Pacific Serviced Suites, 96 Somerset Road, Singapore 238163.

Little Farms has teamed up with food distributor Country Foods for a line-up of dishes that star the products of three plant-based brands: Happiee!, Fable and V2.
To kick things off, there’s a Fable Slider Smash & Olive Oil Bruschetta, topped with Fable’s meaty shiitake mushroom protein, pickled onions, and sweet juicy truss tomatoes, with a swipe of subtly spicy aioli on the side. Then move on to the Happiee! Squidiee, a battered and fried konjac squid that dances with flavour thanks to aromatic sesame coriander dukkah and a slightly spicy vegan sriracha mayo.
The same shiitake mushroom Fable meat alternative stars in the Burgundy Braised Fable Ragout, and has been cooked for five hours to achieve the consistency of pulled pork. There’s a distinct mushroom flavour, but the truffle jus is bold and savoury, and the accompanying pomme puree is delightfully velvety and smooth.
V2’s plant-based pork mince comes stuffed in a crepe together with spinach. It sits on a creamy vegan alfredo sauce made from cashews that brings a nutty profile to the dish. And to end things off, you’ll be digging into the rich Chocolate Avocado Mousse, lifted with a sweet-savoury miso caramel. Chocolate soil brings texture to the rich mousse.
The five-course plant-based menu is priced at $48++ per person. You can also add on the Tepache Twist Cocktail ($15++), a zero-waste cocktail with botanical and smokey notes.
Little Farms’ cafes are at #01-04 Katong point Shopping Centre, and #01-21 Valley Point Shopping Centre. Visit Little Farms Cafe’s website for more information.
