10 Reasons Why The Future Is Female

In the words of Queen Beyoncé – long may she reign – girls run the world and we couldn’t agree more. Here are just some reasons why the future is female!

March 20, 2017

Let’s face it, FEMALES ROCK! Women change the world every day and no matter what our “jobs” are (we usually have many), we know our real job is to grow the future. So why is it that women are less likely to reach top management in business? Or equal wages with men? Or serve our nation in top political positions?

A new women-only round table aiming to empower women hopes to address these concerns and much more. The Future is Female conference, taking place on Apr 8, Sat, is organised by The New Savvy, a women-focused financial literacy platform in partnership with the Singapore Exchange (SGX). The speakers for the conference include senior representatives from several financial institutions, venture capitalists and successful women entrepreneurs.

“I think it’s crucial for women to be active in managing their finances. We believe that all women, regardless of occupation, income levels, lifestyle, life stages should learn to empower themselves financially,” says Anna Haotanto, CEO of The New Savvy.

“Women are earning more money, saving more but not investing and managing their money. Most women are savers or leave it to their spouses to manage the money. But women need to make sure that they take care of themselves and be protected against unfortunate circumstances.”

We, for one, are all for women taking charge of themselves financially or otherwise because after all, the first step towards empowerment is independence. Here are some other reasons why the future is definitely female:

10 Reasons Why The Future Is Female
1. Women are tired

Women are fed-up of always being the second fiddle to the men in the world. We deserve a seat at the table, and we’ll keep fighting until we get it. Our independence has been a long time coming, and we’ve fought every step of the way to achieve the best we can get.

2. Women are strong

We give birth for goodness sake. I don’t know a single man who would willingly go through all that. We are resilient and tough and better still, we have incredible endurance. Our strength is what has enabled us to persist despite centuries of struggle.

3. Women are stronger together

Some of us have allowed petty differences to get between us in the past, but we’re beginning to see past that. When we come together, we can truly achieve anything, and more and more of us are beginning to realise that.

4. Women are speaking out

Too often we’re afraid of judgment, harassment, and dismissal. We allow those who fear our strength to patronise us. Well, we’ve allowed ourselves to be oppressed for far too long and are speaking out for our rights louder than ever.

5. Women are emotional

Our emotions are what make us human. We’re compassionate and empathetic, and we care deeply about our world and what happens in it. Our passion and conviction carry us through the toughest of trials.

6. Women are great at multitasking

It’s a skill we’re proud to have, and it helps us manage our crazy-busy lives. As we’re often raising children, taking care of others, and working our butts off, we get better and better at multi-taking every day.

7. Women are patient

Our patience is our secret weapon. We work and strive and endure with the knowledge that if we keep at it, our efforts will pay off. Much of our success throughout history has come from our ability to understand that change takes time.

8. Women can empathise

We’re in tune with the struggles of others because we, too, have been marginalised in some way. We may not have the same experiences, but we’re willing to listen and learn. We use that as a strength in everyday life to reach out and connect to other people.

9. Women are smart

We’re just as intelligent as any man, and we know it. We’re done putting up with the insulting notion that our gender somehow makes our brains inferior to others’. It’s sexist, antiquated, and frankly speaking, wrong.

10. Women carry the future of the human race

Whether we individually choose to have children or not, we’re still the people who do it. We carry children, we birth children, and we raise children. Without us, there’s literally no future for humankind.
