At the Apple Keynotes on 30th Oct 2018, Apple CEO announced three new products – Macbook Air, Mac Mini and the iPad Pro. Admittedly, the iPad Pro had our attention with its improved hardware, but it’s only one of the few reasons why we think you should get the new iPad Pro.
The new iPad Pro, although the same size as its predecessors, features a wider screen. In comparison, the old version has a screen size of 10.5 inches, while the new one is 11 inches. It also features the same Liquid Retina display which can be found on the new iPhone XR, making everything from watching videos, sketching or viewing photos a more enjoyable experience.
At only 5.9 mm, the iPad Pro is so thin and so portable. Though super thin, it’s still big on features, with the new A12X Bionic chip, Neural engine and batter life that lasts for 10 hours.
Like the iPhone X, XS and XR, the new iPad Pro have done away with the home button and implemented Face ID. Some of you might’ve tried to unlock Face ID while your phone is upside down, which doesn’t work but the new iPad Pro’s Face ID works in every single orientation.

While magnets are by no means groundbreaking, the iPad Pro has incorporated magnets around the edges so the new Smart Keyboard snaps on like a breeze. The new Pencil also snaps on the iPad Pro now, and can be paired and charged wirelessly unlike the old one which uses the Lightning port.
Not just a basic version of Photoshop – actual Photoshop with all your familiar tools and layers. In fact, during the Keynote presentation, they demonstrated with a 9 x 9 feet (approximately 2.7 metre) artwork with over 150 layers and a file size of 3 GB – with no lag at all.
Designed to be your mobile office, the iPad Pro comes with optional accessories like the Pencil and Smart Keyboard. The Smart Keyboard snaps on and becomes your protective cover, and features two different notches to angle the screen when it’s on your lap, and when it’s on the desk.
The new Pencil charges and pairs wirelessly when it’s snapped on the side of the iPad Pro, and allows you to change between brushes when you’re on the Notes app, by tapping the Pencil twice with your fingers. This gesture will also be incorporated into apps that utilises the Pencil. For the Photoshop app on the iPad Pro, a double-tap on the Pencil lets you zoom in and out quickly.
The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be available in silver and space grey finishes in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB configurations as well as a new 1TB option. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,199 for the Wi-Fi model and $1,419 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,499 for the Wi-Fi model and $1,719 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model from apple.com/sg
