Start your day with lots of water (keep the coffee for later) as it will give your body a much-needed jumpstart and make you more energetic.
And drink lots of water during the course of the day as, when your hydration level drops, your body becomes less productive. Plus, it’ll also give you the excuse to walk to the toilet often, giving you some exercise to wake you up in the process too.
2. Get Bigger Tasks Done In The Morning
Get to the bigger tasks in the morning as, even if you haven’t had enough sleep, you’ll feel fresher at this time of the day. Then, when the afternoon slump hits – and you know it will hit you – you’ll thankfully have less cerebral jobs to take on. It’s all about planning, really.
Looking at an enormous work task can be very daunting, especially when your brain is telling you that you need more rest. So divide the job into smaller parts and tackle them one by one. You’ll feel a lot more motivated – and hence productive – with every little hurdle that you get over.
When you don’t feel as rested as you should be, it’s hard to get the mental juices flowing and thus it’s normal to forget things or be at a lost for productive thoughts.
To counter this, grab a pen and paper and write down (or type it in your phone if you’re so inclined) everything you have to do that day. Not only does this loosen your thoughts, it also then gives you a list to achieve each day, making it a lot easier to get to the tasks at hand.
As long as you don’t nap for more than 30 minutes, it will revitalise you and make you more productive. So, if you have the luxury of nodding off for a bit while working, take advantage of it. Don’t make a habit of it though, it’s still best to get a good night’s sleep, instead of making up for it during the day.
