“My biggest challenge as a business owner has been growing into other markets without financial support. Production is really expensive because it involves a lot of investment for raw materials,” reveals Goh Ling Ling, the designer behind the well-loved homegrown brand that’s synonymous with quality craftsmanship and hand-polished exotic skins.

“Raw materials are very hard to source for. That’s why big brands like Hermès stockpile crocodile skin to secure the resources they need for the next decade or more. I foresee ensuring a consistent supply of raw materials as a challenging area in the coming years.”

As the founder of her own accessories label, Ling understands first hand, the pain points of starting a business. She shares how Ling Wu’s small-scale production ensures the exclusivity of its products while keeping the business sustainable:
