Before you head out excitedly to purchase folders, mini drawers and pen pots for your desk, decide on the kind of theme you’re going for, this way, your desk has an organised look to it.
Not only it it more pleasing on the eyes, it feels less “busy” too when your desk accessories have a theme to them.
Once you’ve set a theme for your desk, it’s easier for you to decide on the desk accessories you want for your work space.
Here’s the thing about electronic devices with wires: they take up a lot of space. Even though they’re much more dependable than Bluetooth-connected devices, they can easily clutter your work desk and are usually a sight for sore eyes.
If you’re worried about how dependable wireless devices are, opt to organise the wires and keep them concealed or placed neatly in one area on your desk.
We’re not sure about you but, papers, files and everything else piles up pretty quickly on our desks. If we didn’t declutter every few months, we’re pretty sure those paper items will take over our desks.
Repeat after us: A clean desk is a nice desk.
We’re not saying you have to wipe your desk down every day (although, if you have the tendency to eat a your desk, you should), we’re saying you ought to wipe it down at least once every two weeks.
Dust accumulates really quickly and if you’re in an office with plenty of people, it accumulates even faster.
Besides cleaning your desk, take a good look at your electronic devices and clean their heat sinks and vents out. Electronic devices tend to attract dust because of static and when dust gets clogged up in these heat sinks, they could cause your devices to over heat more quickly.
The key to a clear desk? Keep as little things on as possible. Everything else goes into a mini drawer or a folder somewhere.
