2018 opened with a historic moment for women everywhere. Between the sexual harrassment crimes of Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and a certain world leader, female celebrities stood up in protest of the unfair employment practices, salary differences and unsafe workplaces with their Time’s Up campaign.
A few days before the Golden Globes 2018 red carpet commenced, a note was released to encourage awards ceremony attendees to wear black and stand in solidarity with victims of sexual assault. What followed was a sea of celebs – both female and male – showing up proudly in gorgeous black looks. Some celebs even opted to bring key movement figures as their dates.
Given this year’s celestial theme at the Met Gala, you’d expect plenty of heavenly looks, but none made the impact quite like Rihanna’s Maison Margiela look, which came complete with a pope’s hat.
Not to be outdone, Katy Perry whipped out a pair of angel wings that would put the entire Victoria’s Secret runway to shame.
You’d have to be living underneath a rock to have missed the Crazy Rich Asians flurry, and we were especially happy to see so many of our local stars walking the red carpet in Los Angeles. Constance Lau’s Time Taken To Make A Dress really stole the show, with it’s dramatic fringe and nod to classic cheongsam influences.
Just as we thought 2018 was done with giving us gag-worthy looks, in comes Michelle Obama with her fabulous holographic gold boots from Balenciaga. Now that she’s no longer First Lady, she doesn’t have a strict dress code to adhere to. And while Michelle is letting her hair down and having fun with fashion, this stunning look is truly a scene-stealer.

We hit fever pitch with all things royal wedding-related thanks to Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie’s weddings. Meghan’s Givenchy dress was a study in classic, minimalist lines that made fit its focus. A truly perfect dress for a modern monarch.
Traditionally, royals are expected to wear hemlines that reach the knee, so we can’t imagine the Queen was too pleased to see Meghan in this slightly-shorter-than-usual tuxedo dress. We still love it though, because it’s so timelessly chic.
Dripping in shimmering sequins and Cartier jewellery, Carina Lau reminds everyone why she’s one of Asia’s most glamorous fashion icons.
As she is expected to attend more royal events, this year we saw Kate Middleton step up to the bar and really take style tips from her late mother-in-law. Often spotted wearing the Lovers’ Knot tiara, she also favoured beautifully glamorous gowns in soft colours and classic silhouettes, proving she has style to last the ages.
We thank Hollywood for the A Star Is Born remake, because Lady Gaga gave us so many fantastic looks that will remain with us forever. Top of the list is definitely this feathered frock from Valentino, which Lady Gaga wore to the Venice Film Festival 2018 red carpet. It’s a tricky look that only Gaga would be able to carry off with aplomb.
