While there are those who love to shop for the latest trends, there are also others that love the simplicity of a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is one filled with timeless, classic designs that buckle the fickle seasonality of fashion and are versatile enough for both work and off-days. We had previously written about pieces that form the foundation of any good capsule wardrobe and now, we’re highlighting stylish sustainably made shopping picks that do the Earth good while helping us look nothing short of stellar.
H&M has partnered with up-and-coming Italian fashion label Giuliva Heritage that combines Italian tailoring and sustainability. The collection utilises recycled materials to create classic and timeless pieces that form the foundation of any wardrobe.
Giuliva Heritage was created by the couple Margherita Cardelli and Gerardo Cavaliere in 2017 and prides itself on traditional artisanal tailoring and classic silhouettes. These high-waisted cropped trousers are made with 64 percent recycled polyester and are also available in dark blue and houndstooth iterations.
Drawing inspiration from menswear, the couple aims to create evergreen designs with an affordable price tag. Every piece they have created are well-thought of and can be worn again season after season. This loose-fitting double-breasted blazer has casual ease and is fitting for local climates.
This pair of twill high-waisted wide-leg pants feature a pleated design at the waist that flatters the figure, affording a casual and sophisticated vibe. You could wear it on off-days too with a simple blouse or oversized shirt.
Sustainability has always been in the DNA of Cos and the brand is committed to doing better. Most of their outfits are made with sustainable fibres and fabrics, which also helps prevent wastage during production. This T-shirt is cut asymmetrically and adds a unique flavour to your everyday white shirt.
Cos also utilises environmentally-friendly Tencel, where up to 99 percent of the water and chemicals used are recycled thereby reducing its impact, and organic cotton grown in a pollution-free environment without harmful chemicals.
Cos has also set targets for themselves: to fully utilise only recycled or sustainably sourced materials before 2030 and create a climate positive value chain by 2040. Of course, their designs must be beautiful. These abstract print wide-leg pants will definitely be a new weekend favourite in your wardrobe.
Do you love the fisherman hat? This dark blue denim style can also be used to match a variety of minimalist clothing or complete denim on denim look.
Speaking of denim, do you know the production of the material causes a significant impact on the environment and workers? But at Uniqlo’s Jeans Innovation Center in Los Angeles, the brand employs a “waterless” technology to sustainably create their denim. The environmentally-friendly process reduces 99 percent of the water needed.
Moreover, harmful chemicals are no longer required to create the worn, broken-in effect anymore. The Jeans Innovation Center employs lasers to etch out various designs such as fade and distress.
