In the age of the coronavirus, face masks are a growing (if not already) aspect of daily life, and designer brands from Louis Vuitton to Marni have also jumped in with their own reusable renditions. And some, like Burberry’s masks contribute to good causes as well.
Point to note, these masks may not be medical substitutes for PPE (personal protective equipment), so read up on the product descriptions before you purchase one.
Burberry became the first luxury fashion house to make its foray into PPE, launching this cotton face mask in the brand’s Vintage Check print (that’ll match your Burberry bag or trench, too). Each is crafted with sustainable revalued fabric and antimicrobial technology, and offers Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE). It’s also available in a pale blue, with more colourways expected to drop next season.
20 per cent of the sale of each face mask will go to the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund, which continues to provide PPE, as well as aid food banks and healthcare charities.
Just last week, French luxury brand Louis Vuitton unveiled a monogrammed face shield that will reportedly sell for a whopping US$961 (S$1,300). It doesn’t just function as a face shield, it doubles as a visor when it’s flipped up too, with the clear covering transitioning to a dark tint in the sun.
Virgil Abloh’s Off-White has joined the face mask camp, with the designer adding his signature arrow motif to the front of his version. Wear the double straps around the head and neck for extra comfort and support.
There’s nothing quite like flowers for a dose of cheer (and don’t we all need that these days), and this abstract print from Marni is sure to brighten your look.
It’s not just the coronavirus Jason Wu seeks for distance from. In tandem with the “Distance Yourself From Hate” PSA campaign by Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and the CollectiveShift, Jason Wu designed this cotton twill mask that bears the message and has a logo that’s designed by celebrated French art director Fabien Baro.
Dolce and Gabbana’s signature Majolica print, which nods to Sicilian heritage, lends itself to this vibrant neoprene face mask that’s sure to capture anyone’s attention.
Sustainably made using overstock fabric, this set of three boasts prints from Erdem’s previous collections, which include a green Rose Wallpaper print, a white floral design, and a beautiful Bird Blossom print from Pre-Fall 2020.
The set is presented in a beautiful floral pouch, and each mask comes with a removable filter that can be inserted into a pocket on the reverse side.
Make a statement in Missoni’s attention-grabbing trademark chevron print.
